So I took a little time off from figure customizing because I'm waiting on parts (mostly from Slayer! Come on PO-9.5!) and I've already posted my jungle dio here, but this is a set that I've been working on for over a month and a half in my spare time (what little bit I've had lately).
Everything is scratch-built except for a few props like cans, the garbage/recycling bins and a few crates. The wooden palettes and green/blue/yellow bins are from Bruder (although I painted and weathered them) and the cans are from various 1:18th sets like BBI, etc. The dumpster, doors, windows and lights are made mostly from sheet styrene, and the walls are made from pink insulation foam. Everything was painted using mostly low-end acrylic paint from Michaels. The signs, I painted on a laser printer, hand-cut them and then weathered them with various paints to create the wear/tear and rusting. I used the same construction techniques as I did on my jungle dio set. These are just setup pics, I'll post a dio story once I get it set up with natural lighting and get out the DSLR camera to properly photograph it with figures. (Although The Dial-Tones make a guest appearance!) Here's the tutorial on how I made the walls ยป |

Here are a few older test-shots prior to adding signage showing Shock Troopers being their badass selves. The entire setup is modular so I can rearrange the buildings, streets, etc. Also, the windows and doors are interchangeable and I can remove items like grills and add in busted glass, etc.

Haha, thanks man. I agree, I totally dig the Brazil head sculpt and paint apps, but the single carded one just looks over-tanned and sleepy.

Scoring and cutting the styrene is pretty easy for square/straight edges, although curved edges are a bit trickier. Most folks on here use a thinner styrene based off what I've seen used, but it comes in many thicknesses and sheets. There are people better versed in the styrene than me who can help you out better. Just search the Tank for styrene articles. |

Wow. This is fantastic. Do you think it's possible to post pics of the separate elements? Like, in a large, overhead type shot? Please and thanks.

I allready bought a foamboard in the DIY-shop,and started drawing my walls.
Soon I will be sculpting them just as you did. But can you please give us some sort of a tutorial on painting realistic walls & floors like you ? |
