The CGs were a pain in the ass cause of that oily film. I actually wish they were mine though at the final product. If I could find more CGs around here, I'd make a fireteam for myself...but those were in payment for a friend in DC sending me a W1 Flint for free...awsome guy!
Snakes was easy, just Wave1's head on a wave 5 body, then used the Ninja 5 pack's web gear...I was debating on whether to use grey or silver for the highlights and visor...I'm kinda' glad I chose the silver. It looks fantastic in the photo-comics |

have you given any thought to using the vest that comes with comic pack FF for your Shockwave? |

I like that SE, the all black SE and the grenades painted gray make it so much closer to the original V2 SE.

generally it takes me about a day or two for each, depending on what I'm doing with them...Some like the Gold Ninja Vipers were a quick job...then some like the SCGs...just a BIT longer ;)
As for FF/Shockwave...yeah, now that I actually got one, I want another to use the vest instead of that craptastic bbi/Elite Forces thing...actually I wouldn't mind a few of those FF's...IMO their the second best figure so far (Wave 7 Snakes is numero uno) |

i like the detail on the grand slam gun, minor touch makes a big difference.
Can you say more about the oily film on the CGs? I'm thinking of painting a few helmets, how difficult was it?

I've heard that if you wash it in warm soapy water, it gets rid of it...but generally it just makes the paint bead, so it takes an extra coat or two. I usually thin my paints a bit before applying just to save detail, but even with no thinning it took two coats to cover them...luckily no detail was lost.
As for the helmets, I used the removable helmet version, so I'm not sure if the V1s are the same. |

...Wait till ya'll see Airtight....Turned out GREAT! Nighthawk did me a solid by sending me a Flash body, and Daremo and I swapped ideas. I took his for using Wild Weasel's head, he took mine for the kitbashed vacume cleaner. Only problem was I used Ace's upper arms, and their pretty loose...Didn't find that out till the bum was glued back together :(
Formula: Head: Wild Weasel Body, lower arms/hands: Flash Upper Arms, lower legs/feet: Ace Upper thighs: Wild Weasel (left the maps untouched during painting) The Vacume: Flash's laser rifle, barrel cut off and replaced with Zartan's sniper rifle scope, with a mini binocular glued on...Looks sweet, but I do need some rubber tubing to replace the cord. HOPEFULLY have pics up as soon as this weekend! I kinda wanna' submit him in the contest |
