Oh hey, more traffic than I expected so far. I'll take time in a few to answer folks' questions when I'm not on my mobile device. Thanks for the kind words, it was fun to do my first real dio. I've spent the last month making a small library of dio pieces and mostly taken a break from custom figures. I've got a few custom items I need to get back to but I've been waiting on parts from SDS and eBay, so what better way to pass the nerd time?

It's amazing how accurately this portrays Brazil! I woke up this morning to the sound of gunfire coming from the abandoned ruins next door (mine are slightly less pristine than the ones in this diorama). Thankfully they didn't destroy our banana tree, it's our only supply of food (and toilet paper). Gotta go, have to hike a couple of days through the jungle to reach the nearest GI Joe outpost to send this...
(All in jest, of course, but it's interesting to see the perception that Hasbro has perpetuated of what Brazil is like!) :-) Fantastic diorama btw, regardless of whether it actually represents Brazil or not. :-) Last edited by gn0s1s; 04-27-2011 at 12:46 PM.. |

I work with a lot of Brazilians and we constantly joke with them about this sort of thing. Honestly, the only reason that I included the Brazil bits were due to Claymore. The entire story was BSed after I shot the dio scenes, and I strung together a semi-cohesive story. It was sort of after the fact. Haha. |

Thanks for all the feedback and compliments fellas. Here are some questions answered:

Ripcord's head is the TRU Ace head. Although I like the sculpting on the Redstar head, it just looks like John Wayne and looks nothing like the way I think that Redstar or Ripcord should look. Other headswaps are on Duke (SDS head) and Ambush (custom figure, also from SDS, seen in the background in some shots). |
