I really REALLY hated the way my comic 2 pack Scarlett was looking...yellow pistol and red knife handle wasn't cutting it. So here's my attempt at modernizing Scarlett's gear into something more in line with what I gotta wear every day in the US Army.
Her undershirt and boots are desert tan like mine - I dunno what that pauldron thingy is, but I decided to keep it red. Again, it's my first ever custom paint project - what y'all think? Last edited by Wylde Weezle; 12-17-2008 at 12:41 AM.. |

Great first custom paint job. I don't know if I like the tan boots, black or dark gray might work better. I like it.

That is pretty cool! I agree about the boots...perhaps a dark gray would look better.

I think the ONLY reason I kept her boots desert tan was because that's the only color the Army issues them in.
Then again, the Army doesn't issue boots like THAT LOL. Ok, since the Joes cherrypick their own gear to personal preferences, I will probably shade her boots similar to the modern US Air Force's gray ones and see how that looks. |

That's a GREAT camo paintjob! Any certain technique you used to get the pattern? Maybe the tan boots would be okay if they were a more dull flat tan, almost sand color. Either way, I really dig it!

Looks pretty cool. A questions about her shoulders. Can she swing her arms up w/out without removing your paint app? I kit-bashed and painted a standard Flint and a TF Flint to get the better arms and gloves/watch of the ARAH look but anytime I move the arms up (the TF arms painted black) it scrapes the paint off the shoulder joint... just not enough drying time? or wrong kind of paint?

I was thinking about doing this to a Duke at some point, was just trying to figure out the best way to do it. Looks good.
Are the boots painted with the same paint as the shirt? Because I think they look good tan, but those look too orangeish. |

LOL, definitely can't modify my own stuff to be like Scarlett. I used a really inexpensive acrylic paint. I don't think it's actually meant for plastic, so this figure will have the same problem as on the arms of 5-pack Storm Shadow, Lady Jaye and the new Vipers...the flesh colored paint may get rubbed off eventually. And I don't have any kind of sealer, so that would lessen the paint's chances at the joints.
I used a dark gray for the base coating, then tried to paint large L-shaped patches of lighter gray. Then I cut a Qtip in half and used the stem to dot with beige and the original dark gray. |
