Hey guys,
So it has come to my attention that there's been a bit of talk recently about Pythona customs here on the forum, and I was surprised to see one hit the front page earlier this week... It is therefore that I humbly submit to you my own incarnation of this classic voluptuously 80s Cobra-La femme fatale infiltrator, which I hope you will consider critiquing and compare to other Pythona customs you have seen in the past. I actually finished her about 3 months ago but have been busy doing some custom commissioned work in my workshop recently and therefore have neglected to take any good photos of her for your viewing pleasure. So without further ado, here she is. She was by far the most difficult and time consuming custom I've ever done. You see, in the past, I've seen a lot of interesting Pythona customs come and go, but virtually all of them use the same technique for the body—drawn, flat, boring lines for the bubbles that cover her bio-catsuit. I was convinced that there must be a better way to emphasize all of the depth and texture that is present in these bubbles, and so I decided to create that texture myself. Starting with a Ms. Marvel body (your standard nude female Marvel Universe sculpt), I used a red-hot dental tool to individually burn and carve in every single wrinkle, crease, and bubble that you see- the melting plastic was often overwhelming and many ventilation breaks were taken, but once that was complete, I carefully scraped off the extra charred plastic, sanded it, applied some acetone to smooth and soften the rough parts, and then was able to prime and paint. The head is a standard 2001 POTF Aurra Sing with a dremeled-out neck hole to fit the body. I custom made the earrings from ABS, bronzed them and securely fastened them with pegs. I designed the cape's shape, colors, and hood placement, and it was custom made for me by hand by my girlfriend, a professional seamstress. As far as paint application goes, I went with a lighter colored paint for the body, as that's how it most accurately appears in the 1987 film and that is how I remember it best. Photo references were used for the face, eyes, body-bubble placement, and cape. Hope you guys enjoy her and I'd really appreciate your feedback. Thanks, -Airtight Last edited by Air-tight; 06-06-2012 at 12:04 PM.. |
