Hey fellow Tankers! Seems I start a similar thread every year. I know no one that doesn't like to get the biggest bang for our bucks. This is a call out to anyone who wishes to share any money saving tips, heck ANY tips on making the con experience the best it can be. Anyone know the best place to get tickets for the parks? What about local restaurants? I realize some of this was touched on somewhere, but I just wanted a thread devoted solely to ways to save money and get the most out of the con. I know I can count on KoP and some others to contribute but I welcome everyone to put in their two cents.

Never been to a con (when is this one? I might make it)....
So, for road trips: 1. Get a cooler. Not one of the little pussy ones, but a damned man-cooler. Throw food in there like sammiches, fruits, children, etc. If you drink energy drinks on the road- go buy a case at Wal-Mart. That goes for anything (I understand coffee is not something you can do like this, but hey...). The idea is that you should not stop and throw money at anything but gas. 2. Rotate tires, change oil, all that good stuff. It helps with gas mileage. Also try to not take anything heavy in your vehicle that is not important, like your mother. 3. Shop around NOW for hotels. Get a good deal. If you know someone who is going, split a room. I cannot do this with anyone because I may have sex with a lady if I go. If I cannot have sex with a lady you will be forced to pleasure me while you wear a wig and call me Pimp Daddy Destro. 4. Get beers/liquor and start drinking before you go out. Don't get hammered, but get a decent buzz so you aren't pounding overpriced and watered-down beverages at the bars. 5. If several of you find a hotel you could all stay at- ask about group rates. You may be surprised. 6. Eat out once a day. Bring stuff to make your own food. 7. Stay out of the VIP room at the strip club. |

^ This
It's suprising how much eating out for 3 meals a day ends up costing.

If you are staying at the hotel in Disney get the resort mug for like $10. Or if you have been there recently in the last year or so, bring one from a previous trip. The mugs let you get unlimited refills at the hotel dinning area. Also check out the Disney Park Outlet at the Outlet mall in Orlando. You might find one there cheaper!!
Look for roommates for the Con Hotel! It helps drop the price and it is really worth staying in the Con Hotel. Also do we have a thead started looking for roommates? There is a Wal-Mart and Walgreens not too far from the park. Ask at the front desk and they have a sheet with directions to the malls, Wally, Walgreens, ect. Bring a backpack/shoulder bag for all times! Have snacks, drinks, pen, paper, hand sanitizer, ect in it. Also helps you carry around you purchases. Have your trade list handy if you brought stuff also! Oh and have fun and do not take everything seriously! Lighten up and enjoy! Make new friends and do not put anything or anyone down if you do not like it or collect it. Michael Bulletman Big B |
