(I don't know if this has ever been brought up before, but I'd love to know others think about this.)
Botcon as a Transformer/G.I. Joe Crossover Convention? For those that have been to Botcon in recent years, every year fans are giving a Botcon survey. It's a way to not only rate the convention, but to also give your own ideas on what you'd like to see at the convention. So in getting to my point, I noticed these year as in the past few years, the survey asks.. "What would you think of combining both the Transformer and G.I. Joe conventions together?" Being a fan of both I of course wrote I like the idea. I really don't think it'd be a bad idea what with all the G.I. Joe and Transformer crossovers there's been in the past. That and most the G1 voice actors that worked on Transformers, also worked on the G.I. Joe cartoons. Hasbro would be easy since they design and make both toy lines, not to mention the comics have had many cross overs on both. Personally I think it'd make the convention even better. Just picture an exclusive set toy set that combines Transformers with G.I. Joe, I'd love to see a Ratchet that transforms into a Hiss tank and a Starscream the transforms into a Night Raven. Long as they stayed true to both toy lines, which I know Brian Savage would I think it'd be a great convention. But I'd really like to know what others fans think of this. Rather you're a Transformers fan or a G.I. Joe..Rather you've been to the convention or not. I'd love to hear your point of view. Do you think this would cool idea?

I would say no, even though I am a fan of both. It seems each convention is each property's chance to shine.

I wouldn't mind it since I collect both lines, but a hell of a lot of others would. Not all TF collectors are Joe collectors, and vice versa. This means that those people would be bored witless a lot of the time; it also means that the dealer room, while being more varied, would have to be bigger or go downhill in overall quality.
Not to mention that GI Joe also covers the 12" line; it's not just ARAH and such. This has been brought up on various boards in the past, and it's always met with mild disdain at the very least from the majority of people. |

I would absolutely love a combined/vs. type of Con. I typically cannot go to both Both/Joe in same year, which kinda sucks, lol.
A combined Con would also give us the hope that we see cross over vehicles/figures, ala "human Alliance" from TF2: Electric Boogaloo. |

I'm not a TF fan but I'd be fine with it. It'd be interesting to see TF stuff as well as Joe stuff for sale.

I would dig it. Ive been to Joe Con, but I would certainly love to go to a Botcon as well. Having them combined would be great. I don't collect Transformers, but perhaps something like this would draw new fans into each others realms, thus expanding the fanbases both ways.
And as mentioned, who wouldn't love a true 1:18th Joe scale Transformer that transforms into one of our beloved vehicles?

I know for me, I can't always go to both, do to travel cost, but I would have for sure went to both if they were together. Right now I'm more steady with the Transformer convention although I'm a huge Joe fan. It's just going to two conventions and getting to convention sets, let alone getting the time off to go to two makes it very difficult.
From what I recently heard from a friend though, the G.I. Joe convention does nothing compared to the Transformers. I mean Brian still goes way out to make the displays the dealers room and everything exciting. But to where Transformers has it in the 1,000+ when it comes to fans attending. The Joe one has about half that. I think if it were to help save the Con for year. I'd hate to see that Con go out because not enough fans are attending.
