Then what is the point in having it graded? Why waste that money if you're not going to sell it. Your kids are gonna be pissed when you hand it down to them and say "You are to never open this! Only for looks!". AFA is a complete waste anyway.

I just resently came across a MIB Aircraft Carrier in my moms attic from when i was a kid.It has been stored for 15-20 years.I just had a convesation with my wife.We just got married last friday. She said that she hopes to be able to do both, but said it might come down to one or the other.Joecon is post to be part of my honeymoon. It is going to cost $300-$500 to get graded, this is not counting gas for driving to GA cuz i dont trust any carriers to get it there saftly. This trip will have to be made twice.(dropping off and picking up). Is she testing me already for the honeymoon?Do i just go ahead and get it graded or wait?I mean i know we have the money for both.
Sorry i dont know if this is in the right forum. But it is Gi joe. What would you do? Sorry if I misunderstand your intent. It was a bit unclear, but I think you are under the impression that you can get your aircraft carrier graded at Joe con. I think you should understand that AFA does not grade items on site at conventions. You drop it off, they take it back to GA to Grade it, and mail it back to you. Also with an item of this size they may be apprehensive taking it at a convention. I highly recommend that you contact AFA via their web site Action Figure Authority Home Page and discussing the matter with them before you make any decisions about it. Also a consideration you might want to think about is getting a custom acrylic case made for it. If your intent is just to seal it up to protect it and not sale it this might be a more cost effective way of going about it. I hope this was helpful and congratulations on an outstanding piece.

Here's one that the individual opened just for pictures. Check the price. You could pay for a few trips if you are not going to keep it. I would have a tough time parting with it though. It may be easier to give up a first born.

Joecon isnt in GA.You can drop off items to get graded if you dont want to mail them in,and this isnt something i would mail.Ive already talked to afa,all i got to do is call and they will set a date and time for me when im ready to meet someone to drop it off to,cuz you cant acually go to the afa place of business. They just need a week in advance to set it up. |

Get it graded and then sell it so you can go to JoeCons for the next few years or to one of those places Nicholas Sparks writes about.
