I don't feel bad for anyone that showed up for general admission and didn't get any exclusives. A minimal amount of research would have told you that was going to happen. It happened last year and the year before. General admission is indended to be for the sales floor access and really little else. If you want the exclusives, you need to pony up for a membership and a package. Then get her on Thursday. 3.5 hour drive? Come on. There are people here from BRAZIL! I wish my drive was only 3.5 hours.
1. No trolling, or flaming. Any form of personal insult is a no-no. As a basic rule of thumb: if you think that what you are about to post is insulting, don't post it. No posting with the intent of starting "Drama". If you feel the need to start trouble, go elsewhere. 1.) i am a member 2.) the packages sold out before I could get to them.. The club sent an ambiguous email stating that "the packages will go on sale SOMETIME this week.. stay tuned.." Then they only announce the packages on facebook. That was problem 1 -- I dont have all day to fucking wait around the site OR facebook to figure out what is going on.. I work for a living. Problem 2 - they post on twitter that the exclusives are sold out NOT their website.. I dont fucking follow twitter.. so that did NO good to post it there.. I DID check their website.. nothing was mentioned there.. I choose not to pay for entry on general admission day - because with none of the exclusives left -- and every dealer selling them at ebay prices -- why spend money to go into the show - when everything at that point can be purchased on ebay.. wasnt worth my time at that moment to wait another 3 hours for the show to open.. to pay ebay fees anyhow. |

Understand that the whole General Admission thing is more to allow locals to come share in the fun and bring in more money for sellers and the Club - but they are making it clear that those who buy that ticket aren't really a part of the convention in the fullest sense. They really reward folks who are gung-ho about GI Joe, take off several days of work, and spend thousands to stand in line and hang out for 4 or 5 days.
Not trying to bust your chops, but comments like that....... I am just speechless. Last edited by Cobra80; 04-07-2013 at 03:08 PM.. |

WTF??? That is the Most Elitist comment I have read so far. "They reward folks who are gung ho about GIJOE, take several days off work, and spend $1,000's of $$ to stand in line......." Because you took a few days off work you are better than a person who drops a grand or two over the weekend and was only there a day or two?? Really?? So us General Admission folks are just kinda at the bottom of the barrel then to the "real GI JOE fans" who take several days off work and stand in line.
Not trying to bust your chops, but comments like that....... I am just speechless. |

im not even talking about the people that got them.. dont care.. if I REALLY want Lady Jaye.. I will drop the $200 and buy her.
Im talking about the shitty way that the club does business. I have given them enough chances.. after they got hacked and had my credit card stolen and had $800 for international plane tickets charged to my card, then took a week to get a new card.. I STILL bought a fss trying to hold faith.. but this is just enough.. I will stop supporting the club until the club starts to support the people that pay THEIR BILLS every month |

Wow. It never ceases to amaze me that there are SO MANY "collectors" that are such bug cry babies. So much entitlement. Even when they are complaining about not getting their share, they destroy their own argument by using the word "exclusives". Someone drove 3.5 hours for a long shot expecting the GENERAL ADMISSION ATTENDEE to get the same privileges as those of us who prepaid for guaranteed swag? Wake up to reality.
The club charges more for exclusive, short run merchandise we cant get anywhere else. What cave do people live in that they expect to be given things at cost? The same people who cry because they never owned a Flagg or a Defiant or Terrordrome. My god people. You just dont get everything you want. Deal with it. Go tell your mommies and they can give the whole freaking lot of you a juice box and an orange slice, a meaningless trophy for trying, and tell you you deserve more because everyone is a winner. Now, I have to go set up my con sets on the deck of my Flagg. See you at the con next year! (well, probably not)

Scalping seems to be defined as: some is selling something at their own perceived value that is more then someone else can afford. Ergo, the seller is a scalper.
Juice Box. Hug. There, there. You are a winner in someone's eyes...

oh and by the way: there are paid attendees that did not pay for the added privilege of a godlen ticket, and were complaining that they only were allowed one of each exclusive.
Juice Box, hug, orange slice for them times 3.

Exclusives. Again, every year it seems that there are more and more exclusives, while the retail stuff seems to become a smaller presence.
I went to Steel City Con this weekend, and there was a table that had all of the Joe Con exclusives at their table. I'd have loved to buy them - but I simply cannot rationalize paying these prices for action figures. For those that have the time and money to invest in procuring these, I harbor no ill will. For those that turn around and throw these up on Ebay for 2-4 times as much, well, that's your prerogative. But I will choose to look for a better deal, or I will go without. I passed on a $30 Jungle Viper for a $20 Jungle Viper at Steel City Con. And that's still a lot for me to drop on a single figure. What I'd like to see at some point in the future are these figures available again - the con exclusives, subscription service, membership figures - in some form. Be it in repainted form or what have you. But some of these figures are too essential to not have in every Joe fan's collection. Zarana? Slaughter? The Oktober Guard? Dial-Tone? Remember back in the day when you could order figures or vehicles with your Flag Points that weren't available at retail anymore? Why not have this kind of service? I won't say anything negative about the club, because I've had no personal problems with them, but I think there's a huge void that Hasbro could easily step in and fill here. I know they're wishy-washy about investing too much in the toy line, but it seems the new film is doing really well, and while figures aren't flying off the shelves, the more desirable ones remain hard to find (while some of the crappier sculpts linger - like the reduced articulation cyclists). Once the next wave hits the shelves, I feel like it will be POC all over again. POC, who I'm still trying to track down figures, and paying over twice the original retail value for. And for all those that can throw down hundreds to thousands of dollars on action figures and sneer at those that can't afford it, it is true what they say - money doesn't make good people.
