are the golden ticket holders mostly dealers? just a simple question.
.......it just seems that with this con, they use their exclusives to reward club members. they are not used to increase foot traffic to the show. when tru, walmart, and target.....or whatever retail chain gets an exclusive, the whole point is to generate foot traffic. once they got you there, they are banking you to make impulse purchases......that candy bar and pop you grab while waiting in line or the "while i'm here...." purchase. my two cents....dealers shouldn't have access to the exclusives until the con is over, then they can purchase however much of the leftover stock they want. but to give them first crack at it........with a golden ticket, and an oppertunity to buy multiples? just seems wrong to me. |

Well, if your coming to the con on Sat. or Sun. and only want the exclusives, then no, it probably isn't much fun. If the exclusives are the only reason your coming to the con, then your missing out.
This was my 2nd con and I had a great time. The best part was seeing fellow collectors that I met last year in Nola who remembered me and meeting new collectors that I've chatted with on here and never met in person. It's a bonding experience to be around so many other people that feel as passionate about the hobby as you do. Swapping collecting stories, customizing ideas or helping someone find a part to complete a vintage vehicle. That's what the con is about. The exclusives are just the icing on the cake. Just my 2 cents.

The Club needs to sell every one of their exclusives just to stay in business. And for them, it's a double edged sword on meeting demand. Sure they get extra cash that year, but if the toys are easy to get, then the dealers won't buy them, and if there isn't that aspect of "holy cow this is something really rare" then their sales numbers will suffer. As for Golden Ticket holders, I know a few people that didn't even buy their maximum of exclusives, because they just got the Golden Ticket to be able to go to the special cocktail dinner and the guarantee that they would get the figures. I also know some people that shared the GT with people that couldn't make it to the con. |

I spent about $1,000 dollars to be at the Convention between registration, travel, and lodging. I have a friend who flew in from Australia to be at the convention this year, that's thousands of dollars, and a 24hr flight.
I'm a little lost as to how you feel that your 3hr drive, tank of gas,and $15 should offer you the same opportunity to purchase exclusives, but maybe I'm ignorant, maybe they should hand out doctorates in 6th grade. |

I will just ask this. How many people that have all these phenomenal ideas have actually been to a convention? Not just general admission, the full Thurs-Sun run and attended the GIJCC panels? If you were to do this, you would understand why a lot of things are the way they are. No, they are not perfect. I have had my share of gripes about the club. But come to the show, have the whole experience, and listen to the panels. Then you can make educated suggestions about how to improve the show. |

If you are a fan and go to the Con for the exclusives only, you don't need to be ashamed or apologize for it. The Con means different things to
different collectors. I'm not certain how to solve the problem, but trekking to the Con and not even having the opprutunity, to buy what was advertised is a bit much. |

I'm not able to make it to SDCC, so I pay a premium for the figures I want for my collection. It sucks, but that's the crappy part of exclusives. |

The thing about Walmart is that they can sell a loss leader and just absorb the losses if it doesn't sell.

I also know some people that shared the GT with people that couldn't make it to the con. i understand that wal mart can take a loss on it or absorb the loss if it doesn't sell, but like i said....they use exclusives to get foot traffic to their stores. if your running out of exclusives at a con/show in one and a half days, and still have two and a half days of the con to go......there is something wrong. i went as a general admission visitor on satuday.....signed up/ registered for the club instead. got a bagged iceburg. didn't even want it! as far as the exclusives go i wasn't interested or planned on getting any of this years. i did get last years october guard set. as far as the dealers go....are the exclusives for them or the club members and collectors. if the dealers don't buy them......that just means that there would've been more available for the general admission people. the stuff would of sold either way. |
