When GI Joe first game out, I was actually living in South East Asia where they didnt have any of the GI Joe toys for years, so I had to wait till trips to the states during summer, or my Grandmother who did an amazing job send me a couple of figures every now and then.
So years later after really paying no attention to GI Joe, Sigma 6 actually reboots my interest. I missed Spy Troops, Extreme, VvV, etc, and see Hasbro really got lost for awhile. But after the 25th game out, which I gobbled up too, I really wanted the figures that started it all for me, and that was the 82-83 series. So I hunted down the original 13 (swivel armed). I either was able to get them MOC, or in some cases had to buy like 4 of the same used figure to make a single near mint figure by swapping parts. I am only interested in figures in excellent condition - its an obsession. So here are some pics of my most prized figures. I also have the Command Center, Vamp, and RAM, but to me the big thing is what is in these three cases. It took a long time to assemble these guys, and Steeler was a bitch, but to me GI Joe started losing it when it stopped being military and began to be Sci-Fi/Ninjas. To me, Grunt is one of the greatest figures ever made, but I love all the original 13. As for the Red Shadows, I had a Canadian friend who had a bunch of them at the time I was in GI Joe, so I go to see a lot of them, and once I started hunting down the '83 joes, I decided I wanted the Red Shadows too. I am also after Quarrel and the AF Steeler, and that would finish off my collection. So what do you OLD SCHOOL collectors think? I only started about a year or so ago. . . |

Nice collection. The only other figure I would add to that would be the cobra viper pilot.

That is one nice looking collection, but I do have one question for you. I don't seem to see Breaker's beard in your pic. Does he happen to have a differen't head, or is it just the pic that makes it seem like it is missing? I can see Clutch's beard just fine though.

I never liked Breaker with a beard since it really wasnt in the art or comic, so I used an extra Flash head.

Dude, you are well on your way, and you sound like my kind of collector!
I have the exact same interests - yeah the 25th line is great and all, but it's all about the old school figs baby! And I LOVE Action Force stuff and other international figures. Quote:
