Howdy,
I've posted photos of my collection in the past, but am considering getting rid of my current display cases...really want something with deeper shelves. Wide enough for the Dragonfly would also be a nice touch. I'm having a carpenter come up with some ideas and am really tempted to just get some garage shelves and finish them with molding and acrylic. Any suggestions would be appreciated if you have a better idea. Photo of part of my current set up for reference. |

Looks nice.
I had millwork constructed for my home. They are plywood boxes with melamine coating, sized 24" deep and 12" deep with sliding glass doors and adjustable shelves. I use spice racks to stand the figures on. |

I originally was going to the do the garage shelving approach with the acrylic, but was worried about how it was going to look. I ended up going with Moducases the DF series which are about 24" deep and DF120 is 48" wide. I am still not going to be able to fit a Rattler in there though unless I fold the wings. The modular aspect of the Moducase saved me since the place I was going to put them changed and it was easy to reconfigure what I had ordered. For the price though was I somewhat disappointed in the quality. Missing parts and a couple of the boards are warped. Honestly if you are are kind of handy it wouldn't be too hard to replicate the design they are just extruded aluminum, acrylic and some boards. If you know you aren't going to move them and be in the space for awhile doing built ins might be better. The acrylic panels aren't cheap no matter what route you go.

I like the way the moducases look and am considering them as an option. With that said, the price and the wait time are giving me pause.

I need a few more cases and I am debating trying to build them since I don't want to wait and they would be custom sizes. I won't be saving much money doing it though. The plexiglass isn't cheap and the aluminum extrusions aren't bad but still cost a decent amount when you add it all up. If i go the DIY route I will probably go with something like the video above except I would make doors instead of the pressure fit panel. |

I've settled on getting a bunch of PAX wardrobes from IKEA and going from there. Ultimately I know that I don't want to wait for moducase and need something big enough for the Dragonfly. If anyone has tips with lighting I'd be happy to hear them...shelves will be 23 inches deep.

If you wouldn't mind showing me at some time how you wired them all together I'd appreciate it. The display looks good.
