Finally had a carpenter come by and will get painting tomorrow. He talked to a fellow carpenter about the project and found out the other guy was a huge transformers collector...who has a 1000 Sq foot display room. We are working through ideas for doors but I was just happy to make some progress.

That's looking great, man.
Glad you bumped the thread, because I recommended some lights earlier(you know, the ones I forgot to snap connection pics of ;), and they just crapped out, so I no longer recommend them. I just actually spent the last week removing them, upgrading to a better brand, and using the opportunity to reconfigure the shelves. |

I used the below and they were easy to work with. I really like having the lip of the wood to work with because it hides any issues. Maybe not a great choice for a glass cabinet.

I've been experimenting with DIY display setups as well and found that using tempered glass doors can really elevate the look while keeping dust off the collection. For lighting, I went with rechargeable LED puck lights. They're easy to install with adhesive backing and don't require wiring, which is great if you want a clean look without much effort. Have you thought about adding dimmers to your LED strips? It makes the lighting much more adjustable for different times of the day or mood settings.

I'm adding some rechargeable light strips that have different settings. Doors are in work but will take a bit.

Will do man, as soon as I'm not surrounded by boxes of toys;)
Having to move all of this stuff really puts into perspective how much crap I have! |

I empathize...setting everything back up is enough of a pain.
Lowe's has a sale on .118 thick polycarbonate. Anyone use it for doors or sides on their display? Clear plastic seems crazy expensive. |
