I run an air purifier in my home office where I display all my figures and I still get a thick coat of dust all over everything in no time at all. So if anyone solves the dust problem, I'd love pointers, because moving all my figures to clean shelves and stands does not appeal to me.
Unfortunately, I don't have space to add glass case cabinets like the ones in the OP's photos. Those look fantastic!

Being in a windowless basement room that is air conditioned and has a dehumidifier running seems to be helping. I am still new to having things open and displayed, so I've learned a lot through trial and error, most of which could have been avoided through some research and forethought.
A few of the easier and more obvious: -Moducase is super expensive and has a long lead time. I don't think it is easy to replicate their quality, but it may be easier to get closer than you would think. Metal garage shelves with some work may get you there and there a number of tutorials that you can find on line if you have the space. In retrospect, I think I would have tried this option before buying purpose built display cases because there isn't much I've found that comes close in terms of depth. -I went with glass display cases from Amazon. In hindsight, I would have had large portions of mat board cut to line the backs from the start, before I put things together. Instead, I had to get multiple smaller cuts and adjust them slightly to accommodate shelf brackets. Alternatively, I could have painted the wall behind the cases matte black. Either way, the black background looks good. Michaels will cut mat board to size at no additional cost, though the mat board itself isn't all that cheap. -Motion sensing lights and other wireless lights haven't worked out well for me. It might be user error in part, but individual lights on each shelf are a bit of a pain to deal with. Full display lights that can be turned off and on at a single switch are easier to deal with and look better. -Test your light placement before you start sticking them anywhere. All of the lights I have in the back of my display are pretty much useless. -Petsmart aquariums make for decent enough cases with a bit of work. I'm still reworking the lighting on mine and you may need to buy or fabricate a top-piece, but they are a cheap and easy project. |

Excuse the crap photography, but a mostly finished product with some backgrounds and signs from a couple of Etsy sellers.
