Here is a picture of how I display 850+ GI Joes in my GI Joe room. The camera has a nice way of bending the shelves, but in real life they are nice and straight! Tucked away in the closet is all of the accessories since my cat loves to knock these down every once in a while and it is much easier to track down a fallen figure that than ten thousand pieces.
Top shelf is ROC Next is 25th/ME Cobras Next is 25th/ME Joes Next is 1982 - 1989ish Next is 1989ish-1993 On the floor cause they just wont fit is the rest of 1993 and 1994. If somebody knows of stands that fit the 25th/ME that are nice and small like the ARAH stands let me know, I would love to consolodate the top 3 ROC/25th/ME shelves into 2. Why didn't Hasbro just use the same peg hole size?? *EDIT* Here is an updated pic that show the stands from smalljoes that I can cram two figures a piece on. (stands are here:Action Figure Stands for GI JOE, Marvel, Star Wars, Forces of Valor, and more!) The three bottom rows are my complete ARAH from 82-94, minus the street fighter figs. The full row is a mishmash of 25th/ROC/POC/30th and contains exactly 240(!) fiures on a single row. I still have a number of guys to put up on the top shelf, but that is for a rainy day project. Also, I will eventually get the ME stuff sorted by release, but that is for a few rainy days. And here is a pic (albeit a bit blurry, my camera phone isn't the best at pics) that shows how two figs can fit on a single smalljoes stand (notice the bottom right corener duke/gung-ho) And another edit to include the info on page 4 about the risers and shelves: Thanks for all the comments! As for all the questions, lets see... 1. The stadium style steps/risers are here Acrylic Stairs Plastic Display, Museum I use the 3 Step risers that are 6.25"x6"x6.5" with the 2" depth. These pretty much fit 3 across for 25th/ME/ROC and 4 accross for ARAH. The website has a ton of different styles, but I found that the 2" depth stairs work best. For this display there are 13 of these risers per row. Of note is that with the way the shelves are I had to re-drill the stand holes about 1 1/4" forward so that the back of the risers would touch the wall. 2. The floating shelves come from here: Buy Classique Wall Shelves | Floating Shelving at Smart Furniture 3. There are 6 spaces left in my ARAH display becasue I am missing 6 from 1982/83 that I just havent gotten around to buying yet. If you have a copy of Bellomo's guide, my ARAH collection is in order from that book. Almost the entire 1982-1987 collection is my very own from childhood, my parents did a great job of tucking them away for me . So, with the exception of the 6 spaces in the 1982/83 spaces this is a 99.99% complete run from 82-94 and all of the 25th on up, I refuse to buy 6 copies of starduster and for some reason I cannot bring myself to buy Rampage since I have Heavy Metal. 4. I have had this display up for over a year and have not dusted yet. Neither my wife or I smoke, the door to my joe room is usually closed and since we live in Colorado it doesn't seem to get dusty at all. We only need to dust around the house once a year or so but these figures have yet to accumulate any dust for the last year or so. As soon as I can get the 3 top shelves merged into 2 I can get the rest of the 93-94 collection up and maybe fit most of POC on the rest, we shall see I suppose.... I wish my ceilings were high enough to do that, I have to stack them so you can only see them from the waist up from row to row. Nice setup.
