Got this email today about a bunch of MOC GI Joe items going up for auction.
I couldn't image dropping the money they are asking for this stuff. $5,000 for a MIB Flagg! http://www.premiercollect.com/GI-Joe-1985-Vehicles-and-Playsets-USS-Flagg-AFA-80--15224256,name,101401,auction_id,auction_details Pretty cool items though. |

Premiere Collectibles also advertises in Toy Fare magazine.
I wouldn't say they're a rip...they just charge very top dollar for their items...which would lead one to believe that's why they named themselves "Premiere Collectibles". I'm with you guys though. I could/would NEVER pay $5K for a MISB Flagg. $2K? Maybe. |

I got an auction catalog in the mail from these guys last week (not sure how they got my name and address) and as far as I can tell, everything in the catalog is the same overpriced AFA graded toys that Brianstoys, finalfrontiertoys, and Cloudcity has been trying to offload on eBay for the past several years.

While the prices are high, many of those pieces are the highest known grades (currently) and there are some significantly difficult pieces to find in the catalog. This is all the collection of one collector who made it his mission to have an AFA everything collection. It's a neat compiliation, but nothing that anyone with a little money couldn't also do.
I do not think the Joe community has the buying power to absorb all of these items at once and I expect that many of the items will either go unsold or will be discounted to move. There are a few pieces in there that outside investors (that's who this auction is really for) will probably want (Some Snake Eyes, Stormshadows, etc.) but most Joe collectors don't care about things like Eco Warriors and really won't care about graded Eco Warriors that are priced at 10 times the going rate.

I think brianstoys is puttung up this auction, if you subscribed to thier email or have orderd from them before then you get the catalog and emails. This auction is suppose to take place as a live auction at the same time the San Diego comic con. I agree there is some cool stuff but priced way to high.

A $5000 FLAGG is nothing compared to the email I got yesterday for a $5000 AFA grade 95 v2 '85 Snake-Eyes. with Timber!!!
that is freaking crazy.......I would rather plop down 5k for a FLAGG over a single figure even if he's my favorite....hell even if I were a millionaire I still couldn't justify myself to putting down that kind of money. And if it's Brian's Toys I understand.....he's really proud of his stuff. I have never bought anything from him because I can find it waaaaaaayyyyy cheaper elsewhere even ebay. |
