So, I've had this 54"x40" GI JOE poster since the late 80's. The story goes one day my father who worked in Construction (flooring) happens to come home with it. I was quite excited to say the least seeing I was big into the GI JOE's when I was young, somewhere around 9-12 years old. When I got older I asked my Dad what the story was on this and he tells me: This came out of Colorlab in Pawtucket (Hasbro's headquarters is in Pawtucket, RI)". Then I asked well how did you get it? he said: " They were remodeling and it was leaning up against the wall and he said to the Colorlab boss (who may possibly have been the owner) that his son would really like to have it. The boss said that two or three employees would also like it but if he gave it to one of them that the others would have hurt feelings". So then for some reason he decides to tell my Dad that "If he can get it out of the building without anyone seeing it that he can have it".
My Dad said that he was told that two of these were made for Hasbro and one stayed behind at Colorlab where it was mounted on the wall for a few years. This was supposedly a pre production work that was ultimately changed to have the Jets flying over the mountain instead of the fireworks. I remember this picture being included in the insert that came with the GI JOE's back in the 80's. I am interested in possibly selling this, It could be priceless or worthless, I am interested to find out. Please let me know if anyone has any information or interest. Thank, You |

That's pretty cool and way to cool that your dad brought it home for you. Personally, I'd have to be blown away by a price to sell something with that personal a resonance to it.

I only remember seeing the one with fireworks as an insert poster for the GI Joe magazine. Still very cool!
If you are looking to sell, you can PM me as well. And I hate to even suggest it - but ebay would be the best place to list it. I know I would definitely bid on it. Last edited by Ako Roshi; 09-11-2021 at 11:50 PM.. |

Hey man. I am definitely interested and I am local to you. About 20mins from Pawtucket. If you allow me to do a little bit of research I believe I can make you a fair offer.
If it's something that I think is out of my price range I will definitely at least put you in touch with someone in the Joe community who will have and idea of actual value and or the resources to buy it
