Good day everyone,
I recently rediscovered many of my childhood toys in my parent’s basement, including many G.I. Joe action figures and vehicles. I am planning on selling these but am looking for some guidance so I can get started. A few questions to get me on the right track: - How do I specifically identify each of the action figures and vehicles so I can post the correct description in a For Sale thread? Are there identifying marks (date codes, lot numbers, etc.) on the figures or vehicles that can help me identify their production year? - Where can I find accurate price estimates for the action figures and vehicles? I have seen a wide range of opinions online and would like a “go-to” source to help me estimate prices. I am not looking to squeeze every last penny out of my collection, but I do want to get fair value. - What are the things to pay special attention to when posting each figure and vehicle for sale? Are there special details that need to be pointed out or attributes that I should pay special attention to highlight the condition of each to make sure potential buyers are well informed? - I’m assuming PayPal is the default payment method. Are there other payment methods I should setup prior to starting the Sale thread to be prepared? At this time I am not interested in trades for any of the items. - What else do I need to know before I post the Sale thread? Thank you in advance for your assistance and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Regards, Cire |

Hi Cire,
To identify some figures and vehicles, yojoe.com is a good starting point for vintage Joe things. Sort your figures and vehicles by the year that is stamped on them and go year by year at that site. It’s not kept up to date anymore and there is another site that is good for it too but I’m not recalling what it is. Someone here will know so keep bumping this thread to keep it on the recent posts page. The easiest benchmark for what ppl are paying is eBay going through sold items. Run searches for what you have identified for sold items: makes sure it’s sold completed items. sellers asking prices are irrelevant, only what ppl are paying is important. You can probably move most of your vintage Joe collection here on Hisstank and you would want to ask a bit less than what eBay prices are. Things to pay attention to can vary by figure and others here will have better info on that than I do. Condition of the figures and vehicles is critical—are there breaks or cracks, loose limbs, busted rubber bands on figures, missing pieces. Get the names of each figure or vehicle. That drives traffic to your stuff. PayPal is most common on Hisstank. Some ppl probably use Venmo or Square too but make sure ya got PayPal ready to go. PM me if you have more specific questions.
