I'm currently buying ALL figures from 1983 through the 2001 RAHC 2-packs, as well as all of the ARAH repaints from the new sculpt era (TRU 6 packs, etc.)
I'm looking for loose/complete, and I prefer good condition figures with decent paint and joints. Mild wear, broken o-rings, rusted screws and elbow cracks are fine. Sealed 2000 and later figures are fine if the price is right- but I'm an opener, so I can't pay a "sealed premium".

Most certainly. I had just completed my SW 1978/79 vintage line up and was just starting to work on ESB figures when the first wave of Retro figures hit. I stopped buying vintage figures on the spot. I'd imagine others did as well. if the reissues are very close it will bring down the asking prices of vintage stuff-not for the high rollers, but for the average collector.

Thinking about it, the only line I haven't seen drop in prices when a quality modern line is on shelves is G1 Transformers, they've always been expensive. Most of my Joe buying was done during the ME boom, and outside of the rare stuff, prices were pretty good. At the height of my collection, I had LOADS of v1 Vipers, all complete and pretty nice, and I wouldn't pay over $12 as a rule for a single one. Conversely, in the early days (new sculpt) I'd have to shell out an average of $18 -$20, and they've gone beyond even that now. A new product drought is good for vintage product speculation.
