Hi all - just registered here after coming into a few sealed ARAH figures from 1985ish as well as a couple sealed vehicles. I think my parents had purchased them long ago to give me on a rainy day but they’ve just been sitting in a box in their house ever since. Unfortunately, I parted with the rest of my large childhood collection many years ago.
What I have now are Footloose, Airtight, and Buzzer figures, all sealed on cards, plus a Silver Mirage motorcycle and a Trubble Bubble, both sealed. There were also two non Joe items in the box - a “wind-up Combat Team Land Mine Detector” figure from Durham Industries and a He-Man MOTU Clawful figure, both sealed on cards. Everything is in pretty good shape. Will try to reply to this message and post a few pics. Before I go to list these, was hoping to solicit thoughts here on how to properly describe them (for instance, is it appropriate to call these MOC even if there is, e.g. a ding on a corner of a card?), what photos / close ups any potential buyers would want to see, what’s the best delivery method to ensure no issues for either buyer or myself, etc. I’ve been reading up some here, including the shipping / insurance info thread, so not trying to make a lazy request, just saying I will be grateful for any info or tips that may not be obvious or already covered in the sticky posts. Also, if there is a standard way to approximate the value of these items other than simply checking ebay completed sales, would be grateful for that info as well. Thanks in advance! Personally, if they're still sealed completely, MOC or MISB are definitely appropriate, MIB I've always considered to be an open box. The "mint" aspect technically refers to the contents, if the packaging was mint, it'd be something along the lines of MOMC (unicorns, IMO).
As far as pics go, more is better. People will want to see it from every possible angle, especially considering that it's essentially old cardboard. They'll want to see if the card is warped, dinged, if there's any bubble lifting, etc. In short, everything. As far as value, Ebay is sort of the modern price guide for just about everything, using the sold option will give you the best idea of an average there. Lastly, and some may disagree here, I'd go USPS every time, and spring for the insurance. In all my years of buying and selling, I've only ever lost one package, and it ended up returned (albeit 2 mos. later). Again, others will disagree and have horror stories, but they've always done me proper. Good luck! Edit: Seeing those prices really takes me back to simpler times! OK, I've finally gotten around to listing these on eBay and wanted to share the links here for anyone interested. Thanks again for the help!
Airtight: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223848794558 Buzzer: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223848845933 Footloose: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223848854140 Trubble Bubble: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223848810812 Silver Mirage: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223848829383 Also just listed a MOTU Clawful figure (sealed/MOC) in case anyone is interested in that: https://www.ebay.com/itm/223848897263 BTW, should I provide these links in the Vintage Joe forum as well, or would that not be appropriate? And does anyone know if it is possible to revise a thread title? Thanks! If anyone has questions, suggestions, etc., please let me know! Last edited by nemagn24; 01-12-2020 at 03:15 PM.. |
