I'm looking for the 84 original Storm Shadow. I'm really hoping to avoid the e-bay pricing on this. Not looking to rob anyone, but I also need to try to find a good deal. I don't want to whiten a yellowed figure, because that ruins the Cobra emblem.
My dad is actually going to be buying it, and it's for my brother. He just bought a house, so I'm preparing a house warming gift for him, and SS is the cherry on top. As kids, my dad would open the figures, cut out the file cards and put the figure and the accessories in these little white, electronics shipping boxes that had fold down wire tabs to hold them shut. We found a couple, and I want to replace my brothers long lost SS, and have my dad give it to him in one these boxes, after I give him the main gift. What I've done is taken a massive pile of accessories, parts and miss matched bodies, and I've pieced them back together. He's missing a bunch of stuff, but the figures that survived our childhood now have new O-rings, they each have a clear figure stand from smalljoes.com, as well as a nice, label maker printed sticker with their name and the year they were made on it. They are all now stored in these nice plastic tackle boxes I've bought, so each one has it's own home. I also have a large tub for the vehicles, which has a custom second level, so that they are not all sitting on one another and getting paint rub and broken (any further than they already were). I plan on having my older brother buy one of those wall mounted display cases that are meant for 3.75" figures too. It's going to be pretty awesome. But, my dad is going to buy SS to give me some help, because I still have a lot to do, and I'll be helping my brother do some pretty major renovations before he moves in, so I won't have much time. I still need to do some important work on the tackle boxes, which will be red white or blue inserts for each slot, so that while open to view, it will look like there is an American flag behind the Joes, and probably just red for the Cobra figures. I also need to try to track down a few other items. Since we were kids his Cobra pogo has been a pile of parts, no two of which fit together, save for a hose to a leg, so I want to find at least enough to have a pod that looks like a pod, rather than a pile of parts. I need the main red body, the clear dome (not the red trim part that the clear dome pegs into), the gray bottom, one thruster, 2 legs, 1 missile, and the antenna. I think that's it. I'm also going to try to find the handle bars to the Dreadnok cycle, as well as the plate that mounts the gunner turret to the bike. The turret, seat, gun, gun mount, and red rails are all there, but it can't be mounted to the bike, because that lower base plate is missing. These are things that I barely have any memories of them being complete, that's how quickly they were lost, so putting them back together will be pretty important to me, and I think to him (at least I hope so). I'll also be trying to de-yellow his Battle Platform, which will take time and money. So, as you can see, this is a pretty big project. Since I'm asking my dad for help with Storm Shadow, I'd really like to find a decent price for him. Any help or good leads would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thanks for reading! PS I've also created a figure checklist for the entire vintage run (82-94) using Excel, so I'll try to find a way to get it to anyone who is interested in it. I think the list deserves its own thread, because it's pretty in depth, but it's probably more comprehensive than you think. If you're interested in the list, send me your email address and I'll send it to you. -----EDIT----- And just to give some perspective, my brother doesn't understand the joy of nostalgia. My collecting is a subject of contention between us many times, and I'm doing this, in large part to show him how this hobby actually feels, and how many good memories it can bring back, since he still speaks fondly of the G.I. Joe line. Last edited by nicholighkun; 06-09-2017 at 02:38 PM.. |

I have a pogo leg (maybe two, but at least one for sure) if you need it.

Does it have to be 100% vintage?
The comic pack version from 2005 is a lot cheaper, I'm sure, and definitely whiter. Only difference is his arms and his weapons. Storm Shadow (v19) G.I. Joe Action Figure - YoJoe Archive |

Are you opposed to Black Major? Probably the easiest and cheapest way to get a good looking SS. An authentic, non-yellowed SS will probably run you at least $50.

That sounds like a great price. It's much higher on e-bay. I do want it to be vintage original, because it's a gift.

In a matter of days I'm going to have to pull the trigger on an e-bay auction, so if anyone has one, please give me a quote.

Going to commit to looking other places either later today, or tomorrow. Still hoping for a reasonably priced SS figure. Not looking forward to having my dad pay e-bay prices for this.

Well....what do you want us to say?
We gave you options; you didn't seem to like them Now you're giving us a guilt trip about paying the market price for one of the single most sought after figures in the entire line, who is notoriously hard to find in mint condition after 30 years of yellowing? I agree with not buying a bootleg. This is the reissue: do an ebay search for comic pack storm shadow 21 $20 brand new. Original, authentic Hasbro product. I think that's the best you're gonna do.
