I don't understand at all the whole "one peice of plastic for another peice of plastic" thing at all.
If one is rare and one is not, why shouldn't the rare one be worth more? Scoop, I understand where you're coming from to a degree, but when you're talking about "worth", eBay really is about the best gauge of what an item is worth in terms of cash. You have the widest possible audience, and in most cases the largest selection at the same time, with the price decided by the consumers. The math is evident. Fair trade all around. |

it might not be fair but come on $40 bucks for black timber and silver PDD. It is more like $70-$80 bucks they go for each average. But hey if you have a snake Eyes with Black Timber available for $40 bucks I'll take it.

now, for anyone saying that a figure is only worth retail price, I have a question for you. How much money does it cost to print money? I bet it cost about 2 cents to print a hundred dollar bill, wanna sell me your hundred dollar bills for 2 cents?
maybe that's not a fair example, let me think... okay here goes.... how much money have you spent on your collection? if you were willing to let it go, and it was worth 4 times as much as you paid, would you be happy with selling it for your original investment? I'm going to be an honest man about it and say "hellz 2da no!" and there is not one of you that would (unless you were independently wealthy and didn't need the money).

no, the original PDD is historic. the SDCC is just another exclusive. but even comparing an original PDD to a yellow Stalker, if PDD is historic because he is a production variant, so is Yellow Stalker, albeit to a lesser degree.

Collectors out there would LOVE to have a Silver PDD in their collection. It's one of the coolest figs available. I happen to have multiples - by luck. As well as SE Black Timber. Similarly, there are peeps out there with a few Stalkers and are listening to offers. I'd NEVER get rid of my Gold PDD... that's a completely different story. |

i wouldn't sell my collection. that would be silly. i would be bored thereafter.
i've been collecting stuff since i was a kid. it started with baseball cards... comics... foreign bills... manual vintage typewriters... and now Joe's. the point of collecting is for pleasure. i'm not in it for the money. i want to complete my set, that's all. i can't help it that the one figure i need, people are holding on to as if it were a winning lottery ticket. i won't trade my Gold PDD for any Joe out there. Not even the Stalker. I just bought a mint Gung Ho variant - which many Joe aficionados will agree is much more rare than Y Stalker. Anyhow... again, not about the money. i got it at a fraction of the cost of a Stalker. will it be worth more some day? who cares. i got it because i needed it for my set. damn you, yellow stalker! |
