For those of you who sell things here, how do you know how much to charge for shipping (like when people give you their item list and zip code)?
I'm about to put up some stuff for sale and want to be able to give shipping quotes, but I'm not sure how to know how much to charge. Thanks...

Gotta know how much your items weigh. If you go to USPS.com, they have a shipping calculator. Plug in your zip, the buyer's zip, the weight, and method of shipping and you'll get an estimate of about how much it costs to ship.
The way I handle shipping is I charge for the cost of shipping, materials such as boxes or envelopes, a smidge for gas (my PO isn't close), and a bit for the Paypal charge. I'm selling loose figures right now for $3 for the 1st and $1 for each additional, and I about break even between all the costs I incur during the shipping process. Hope that helps. |

A single loose figure wrapped in bubble wrap and in a padded envelope should go for between $2.00 to $3.00 1st class depending on the zip you send it to.
That post office website is great. But you need to know an exact weight to get an exact amount of whichever shipping choice you're using. |

most figures in a bubble envelope anywhere in the us besides hawaii and alaska go between 1.30- 2.00 priority, vehicles like a skystriker sell between 12-15, something smaller like a awestriker cost about 6-8. alweys charge a few dollars high so just to be safe plus youll have to cover the envelope or box plus bubble wrap which most buyers seem to forget when you ship there item.

If you have some extra scratch, I'd recommend buying a digital scale. I bought a 10lb scale and have never been happier with a purchase. I can give everyone exact weights every time!
If you don't plan to ship anything that heavy, you can also get a 5 lb scale. I would steer away from the "Old School" versions, because in this case, you definitely get what you pay for.
