They are from TV actually, recorded from the HUB when they aired.

oh. i just noticed there was no actual mention of them being HD via a HUB HD channel so I assumed they were captured in HD some other way. I assumed they were from TV... just not an HD channel.

These are excellent. Is there a specific technique you used to get them this clear? I've got all of the episodes on my DVR, and I'd be more than happy to help screen cap older episodes... |

Yeah, it must be an HD channel, I've tried doing something similar, but I only get The Hub in Standard Def, and my screen caps look like crap compared to this.

FIOS is the ONLY company who's HD is not compressed before re-sending the signal out to your TV. All the Satellites, Comcast, Time Warner, etc, get the signal from the company (aka HUB) in pure 1080i HD, then compress it again (loss of quality), then send it to you. To save space on their pipeline. Some of Comcast's signals for channels are less than half of the original quality. The more channels they add, they less quality each channel will have, because they have a limited amount of space in their pipeline. FIOS runs new, more-spacey pipeline, and doesn't have to do that right now. So all signals are pretty much pure. I just pull from my DVR and run it thru a capping program, then pull out the individual images that look good. Each ep produces about 6,000 images I have to sort through. I just got this set up in the last 2 weeks, so I don't have eps prior to Return of the Arashikage 2 parter. As they go into re-runs, I should be able to get caught up pretty quick. |

Ahh, that explains it. Been after FIOS for years, but I live too far in the boondocks.
