i understand there are many different types on this forum and some cats actually "befriend" other cats. i'm not in no way trying to diminish actual friendships that have been forged through this medium. personally, however, i feel real friends are family. growing up i thought friends were actually going to be there forever. in the end, family remains when all your friends grow up and move on with their lives. you may have the drunk uncle, slutty aunt, meth head brother, angry dad, etc... or you may have it cordon bleu. but family is where its at. |

True Dat. Do you actually have a drunk uncle, slutty aunt, meth head brother and an angry dad? I only have the angry Dad, lol. |

I didn't read the Naruto Bleach parts of your post because I convinced myself that I was hallucinating and that you didn't really write any of it. Sailor Moon I can forgive because you may or may not be one of the dudes who liked it because it was one of the only anime series on American TV on a regular basis during the mid 90's. That or you went for some chick that liked it.
I watched Sailor Moon because it was the only thing to watch at 6:30am in art school, and got into it more when I saw the subtitled version. Sailor Mercury became one of three characters in anime I outright fell in love with, only to find out all of them were voiced by the same girl (my dearest Aya Hisakawa, who reunited with Mitsuishi Kotono on Noir). For the record, she's also in Bleach. : P Also, I was impressed at creator Naoko Takeuchi's encyclopedic references to Eastern and Western mythology and religion peppered throughout the series. Unlike Hideki Anno, she usually throws them in with some actual significance. ;) Quote:
'll bite. Yes, I did watch Ronin Warriors, but that was a late-commer, dude. I was watchin' Speed Racer, Voltron, Mazinger (Go Nagai!), Battle of the Planets, Saber Riders, and God knows what the hell else growing up. By 19 I had a stack of legit and fourth gen bootlegs with everything from Ranma 1/2, Gunbuster, Ninja Scroll, Wicked City, Demon City Shinjuku (yes, I knew who Yoshiaki Kawajiri was before the Animatrix) , Iria, Fist of the North Star, Record of Lodoss War, Vampire Hunter D, The Dirty Pair, Guyver (can still hum the theme song), Devil Hunter Yohko, Devilman (Go Nagai!), Urotsukidoji, you name it, man. I'm pretty sure the simplification of anime has been documented/ripped apart, I know Itano and others think anime in it's current state is going nowhere. Read an article earlier this year where one veteran animator in Japan basically ripped apart the current anime industry. Forgot if it was Itano but it was fucking hilarious but sadly true(sad as in the dude's commentary was actually right).

In any case, yeah. Animation has gotten expensive. You should see Disney's latest effort, Princess and the Frog. I couldn't even watch it on high-def because it looked so lazily animated. Something like The Great Mouse Detective, the first Disney movie to use CGI, actually looks better than this on a big screen because you can clearly see every lazy computer shortcut they took in vivid detail. It also depends a great deal on who the director/key animator is. I've seen gloriously cool eps of even Bleach and Naruto because the director knew how to use what he had, but guys that good usually don't stay in TV for too long. One thing I also noticed as I got older, I don't draw lines between Eastern and Western animation any more. The lines are too blurred. Even stuff like The Boondocks has a huge anime influence, as do a lot of anime now seem to have learned a few things from the west. And co-productions that muddy the waters even more (I still run into tools that call the english version of Afro Samurai a "dub", not realizing that is the original language). Damn, now you got me wishing I was caught up on my Miazaki. I fell out of the whole thing the same way I fell out of comics, and now only follow a select few series or movies. |

I've since made a family of my own and they mean everything to me.

Ok I eneded up liking Major Bluud. I drank a full six pack to wacth it to get see him though only way I could stand all the ninja crap and stupidity portryared by Roadblock, Scarlett Duke and Tunnel Turd...however he is more like Thrasher then Major Bluud really.
His car was pretty damn badass, if they go the cheap route and make that thing like that stupid ironman car which it looks nothing like at all I would be deeply disapointed. Still not liking the script and voice overs, that spretty crappy so far. Very poor dialogue. What Iw anna see next is how they portray the Crimson Twins and the CGs. The f that up then it is war! WAR I SAY! |
