Just found out that as recently as 4/30, Brian Ward stated that the DiC series wasn't in the works just yet.

From what I remember of those cartoons, they were awful. I watched them as a child because every morning there was either DiC or Sunbow episodes, and you never knew which would be on.
The Sunbow episodes are so much better. Plus the song.. "Gotta get tough, yo joe, gotta get tough, yo joe".. it crawls into my head and wont leave. The ONLY reason anyone wants them is to have a complete set of Joe cartoons. Honestly, knowing how bad they are it's almost something NOT to look forward to putting $$ out for b/c you KNOW you are not going to enjoy them, it just a "to have them" kind of thing. :( Kind of like having to buy that 25th Buzzer or Wild Bill figure.

BTW, anyone know which TF cartoon episode has CC in it as "Old Snake" ?
I've never seen a decent copy of it, and I just bought the boys all the seasons of the TFs, since they are such TF junkies now. Thanks -

Make NO mistake, the desire for the DIC Joe cartoons is NOT for their quality, animation or story wise. I can't think of anyone I know who wants them for that reason.

Me too. In fact, those were the definitive Joe when I was growing up. They're so bad... they're good!

Yeah, I certainly watch them to enjoy them. At the very least they can be funny. At best they are just as entertaining as the Sunbow episodes, meaning they're still just kids shows. I mean, anyone who gets some sort of deep intellectual satisfaction from any G.I.Joe cartoon proooobably hasn't matured much since puberty.

Brian Ward has gone back and forth on the subject of DiC. He has given a lot of reasons why these probably won't ever be released - they aren't part of the Sunbow continuity, Hasbro doesn't like them, and there won't be enough of an audience. But, from time to time, he has posted that they are looking into getting the rights. So, who knows? I'm not optimistic. I mean, you could probably take the sales they made on the Sunbow seasons and cut it in half at BEST, and I'm certain Shout Factory is thinking that too. So, I'm sure sales on the current DVDs will factor into this decision.
