So it doesn't have thee familiar song and sounds ingrained in us by Sunbow, "He'll fight for freedom wherever there's trouble." Because of that, I confess I never gave DiC toons the time of day. Its classic judging the book by its cover. Then one day,
I watched little clips of DiC on YouTube and I got to say. Its not too very different from Sunbow - compared to Resolute's very different take and feel. DiC actually seems closer to Sunbow than Resolute. Given there's nothing do now-a-days but wait till waves 1 and 2 declog the pegs; I suggest fans to go back, and enjoy DiC toon clips on YouTube. You can see for yourself. Its a completely different feel when you take-out the DiC intro & outro that is so drastically different from Sunbow's Intro with thee cool theme song we all know and love, "He'll fight for freedom..." After checking out the DiC toons - minus its non-Sunbow intro and outro - come back to this thread and let's discuss the need for fans to have available a DiC DVD compilation. If I were to compile all the DiC toons, I would only include the DIC intro and outro in thee very end and thee very begining of the DVD. Meaning, each episode will immediately start into the story without the very non-Sunbow intro and outro song; which is perhaps one of the little things getting in the way of fans enjoying otherwise great stories, the same voice actors, and toons celebrating those ARAH Joes we all know and love. Anyhows, I must say, check out the series on SCOOP! We need the various action-figures of SCOOP!! The links below are the 1st 5 DiC toons; starring SCOOP!!! the DiC series was pretty good when Cobra Commander took back power but I really wish they had given this show a better ending.

It is really great stuff; content wise. Its just the visual quality which I can handle. And also, I can stomach that terribly bad DIC intro for just a few minutes; "Got to get tough..."
Otherwise, its worthy of being re-mastered with perhaps better quality in color. And again, leaving at the door that terribly bad "Get Tough" intro. Last edited by 12345; 10-16-2009 at 06:50 PM.. |

Gotta agree, its worthy enough to sit back and enjoy all day. That's how good this under-rated toon is! I just wish there is a DIC box-set like what Shout Factory did with Sunbow. Like the Sunbow box, the DIC box set's discs can show characters from their card-art, selected from characters of 1989 to 1991; the years when this under-appreciated cartoon aired. Well if anyone knows anyone from Cookie Jar Entertainment in Burbank California, that's the company who bought DIC; do let them know about the huge new Joe fanbase numbering in the millions. Not to mention, the movie sequels set to attract millions more fans. Again, DIC is a really cool run of toons. Gotta check it out. And we gotta get a compilation DVD set. I'd love to see the DIC run released. I'd snatch that up with a quickness.

Hate to disagree, but I haven't been able to make it past the halfway point in my DIC DVD collection and I've had it for going on 2 years. It was terrible... the poor sound effects, the terrible voice acting, the really REALLY bad story lines that actually made the Sunbow series look realistic and plausible.
I know this is all just my opinion, so feel free to ignore it... but the only saving grace in DIC was Chris Latta as CC. |

It was watching the DIC episodes a couple of years ago that got me back into Joe.
