But let's be realistic... ;^)

Wild Bill. Can't stand him. I blame Sunbow for that and I wish I could head-canon my way out of disliking him but I just can't do it.

Hama was never smart about how he used Firefly. Especially after SS defected, guys like Firefly needed to be major threats. Instead, Hama was content to let them fade into the background, or outright get rid of them, much to the comics detriment. Imagine how much better the comics of 87-91 would be with a Cobra operative who was a legitimate threat, not a ninja and who would stay a villain. |

I find this thread inexplicably depressing.

Cobra Commander should've stayed dead in the comics. Point blank range, no sleeping phoenix ability. No no-prizing your artist's depiction, either, Larry.
Really, a Joe needed to die in the Borovian failed mission on the gulag, to send that story home. I nominate Snow Job. Scarlett's bullet to her head should've ended her. Then Snake-Eyes could go after the Baroness or she'd die as a result of his vendetta (not by SE's hands because he's still a "hero") , putting firmly Destro back in the villain camp forever. Hawk dying from his wounds in Borovia...yeah...do it. New Joe leadership shake-up. Darklon never should've been "killed" the first time. El Jefe needed to eat a few hundred bullets. I agree about the Commander's death since the way Fred VI shot him. Even if there was no blood, which there should have been or red mist, Fred's bullet went through his back and chest. There should have been flesh, blood, lung, and heart parts all over the place.

I think the mistake there was Hama never should have put Firefly or Zartan in the freighter in the first place. He left himself with almost no "named" villains, only troop builders, which meant way too much of Zarana and Road Pig.
