Decided to go back and watch the show from the beginning since this thread's observations brought back a lot of memories.
Duke's escape in The MASS Device is pretty silly. I love that he manages to land directly in the cockpit of a HISS Tank and immediately starts driving it through the swamp. I found it a little jarring that, once the Troopers think he's dead and leave, Duke reemerges from the bog he fell in and stumbles off. The next we see of him, Doc and Cover Girl are taking him back to Joe HQ in a hospital bed. Leaves me wondering if there was some sort of sequence in between that showed him actually being rescued. I also found it kinda funny that Doc wheels Duke's hospital bed into the HQ's Giant Screen Room just so everyone can see him, even though he's in dire need of medical attention and needs to recover. MASS Device is odd, because being at the very beginning, it has some really great bits and some not so great bits. The one that always gets me is the "shoestring catch" meteor sequence. Always felt that part was a bit silly even for the world of GI Joe. Last edited by SnowCat; 09-01-2022 at 01:54 PM.. |

It's funny, I think the story editors and Friedman must've realized that the writing on the escape was pretty rough, because both Revenge and Pyramid have longer, more fun, better thought out escape stories.

Pyramid for me has some of the worst bits. Such as, all of Snake Eyes' and Shipwreck's side adventure, Quick Kick debuting half-nude in the artic, and CC standing behind the Crimson Twins as they pilot a...Rattler? Plus, the animation is the roughest out of all the five-parters.
As for Quick Kick, I've always found the concept of a commercial film crew leaving an actor barefoot and shirtless in the arctic rather than paying him hilarious, so I've never minded that scene. (Honestly, given how Disney mistreats some of their people, I really wouldn't be surprised if they actually tried to leave someone in the arctic.) Agree on the animation, some of it is pretty rough. And the Fatal Fluffies are terrible. |

Why is Sci-Fi using the XMLR-3A instead of his specific laser rifle?
@ 4:38 No piranhas were harmed during this episode of G. I. JOE: A Real American Hero Adjusted for inflation Serpentor would have to raise $13,516,240,875.91 today's dollars. Unlike Jerry Lewis, COBRA is running the telethon as money making venture. Stasi is showing a lot of cleavage in a children's cartoon.* F.y.i. this is not the same evening gown she had on in Eau de Cobra Not that they care, but putting Sci-Fi and Lifeline in those roulette wheels has to be a war crime. Destro is in his feelings about manning the phones. Destro has very low frustration tolerance.

Mike doesn't have the demeanor of a ruthless terrorist who wants to rule the world.
COBRA Command has it's cadets go on combat missions. Glamor Girls Dial Tone and Low Light were helping the Una and Satin move while in uniform and they were using the A.W.E. Striker in an official capacity. Madame Vail didn't appreciate Mindbender's mendacious attempt to placate her. Una is Low-Light's sister. So Low-Light and Dial Tone were about to get in trouble for the unauthorized use of the A.W.E. Striker. Sherry Eastman is Sheena Easton. Carol Leagues is Cheryl Tiegs. Who is Candy Huntley and Tara Dawest supposed to be? Zartan whooped on the Dreadnoks for hypnotizing Zarana. Mindbender had no fucks to give in regards to Zarana being used on the transference machine.

That's not too unusual. When a friend of mine moved, his buddy helped using an M1 Abrams tank.
