The DIC series made you realize: "wow, this really IS just a 30 minute commercial for selling toys".

I liked the theme from DIC though the show was ok. It was a little better than what I remembered but it is what it is: a show for kids.

I just can't watch it. I've tried to sit through it and appreciate it in a "So bad it's good" kind of way, like the Star Wars Holiday Special, but I can't even. And it's unfortunate because two of my favorite figures (Night Creeper and Slice) appear in it, but it's just awful.
Mix mix stir. Mix mix stir. Ugh :-)

Side y side with Sunbow, of course DIC doesn't look good. You need to change your perspective. I went in looking at the series as a comnedy. Some episodes had a sunbow vibe to them too. I love GI Joe and I was able to appreciate this series for its place in GI Joe history

I'll say it....I'd rather watch the DIC series than Renegades.
I don't have the same hate for the DIC series as most. I was a kid, and the target audience, when the Sunbow series appeared. I never saw the DIC series until I was an adult.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I got ARAH Series 2 Season 1 and 2 on DVD awhile back in hopes to learn more about some old vintage favorites like Salvo, Battle Armor CC, Bullhorn, Ect and I watched Operation Dragon Fire. Its the episode arc where they introduce Python Patrol and Tiger Force. It was so bad I barely made it through the first episode before turning it off. So now (almost 7 months later) I tried to finish it. I powered through the Headman and Cesspool episodes, but otherwise it is impossible to watch. It ruined my impression of Ambush, Rampart, and several others. Only thing it had that was interesting is introduction of new Cobra and Joe members and that Storm Shadow was a GI Joe member. Anyone else hate or love series 2? What do you hate or what do you love? I see now this has already been talked about. One thing this site has taught me though is that there is no 1 generation for any toy line. No doubt there are younger fans who see Cobra LA or ARAH Series 2 as what Joe IS the way I see the og16 file cards or the first run or Marvel comics or the initial 4 MotU Alcala mini comics.

It is very crappy. I have seen season 1 only of DIC and it is rough to watch. Some episodes are solid enough but for the most part its a rough ride.

It was the GI Joe that was on when I was a kid. I loved it then. I realize the ridiculousness of most of it now, but there's still a nostalgia factor.
And my kids (5 and 3) love it. So they must've done something right when kids are enjoying it a quarter of a century later.

My stomach can handle ARAH Series 2 better than it did Rise of Cobra.
