So it's been announced that we will be getting a new GI Joe cartoon. But we really don't know the direction Hasbro is going to take the new cartoon. Where would you like to see Hasbro take the new Joe cartoon? Share your ideas.
My idea: Hasbro should pick back up where they left off from the 1987 movie. Better animation of course. Actually I would like to see an updated animated cartoon based on the toy and comics commercials from the 80's. Eventhough the commercials favored the Sunbow cartoons the animation for the commercials were so much better. And I would have loved to have seen the commercials in the full cartoon series. And Hasbro can even improve on that for this day and age. No anime style cartoons please! I'm an ARAH kind of guy and I believe Hasbro can pick right back up from the 1987 movie and build from there. Bring in storylines for Tiger Force, Battle Force 2000(maybe call them Battle Force 3000???), bring in IG Destro and the Iron Grenadiers, and Night Force. Reintroduce old time favs like Hawk, Duke, Flint, Cobra Commander, and Destro. Start bringing in Fast Draw, Techno Vipers, Hard Ball, Outback, Overlord, Metal Head. Show how Cobra Commander returns back to human form from snake form and have him begin wearing his battle armor suit. Have a storyline going that dives into the frustrations of Destro and him separating from Cobra to form the Iron Grenadiers. I don't know, what would you guys like to see? |

Start it from the beginning, but set in 2016, showing Hawk and Stalker recruiting members for the newly formed Joe team.

I want to see Gen. Colton handing a new assignment to a newly named General, Clayton Abernathy. I want to see Gen. Abernathy, given the task of putting together a new team of elite soldiers, whose task is to uncover and eliminate a new terroristic threat called Cobra. I want to see our favorite classic characters introduced to each other, for the first time, and I want to see at least one new team member; each episode. I want to see Cobra expanding its sphere of global influence amongst global leaders, corporate entities, and recruiting from the poor and hopeless masses.

I guess the question to ask is what went wrong with Sigma Six and Renegades? Two very different approaches with somewhat stylized amimation, but something didn't click with viewers or the intended audience. I mean the most popular cartoons today aren't always good, and I think has more to do with the timeslot they are in. I figure Marvels Avengers Assemble may be a similar target audience.

I watched the Sigma 6 cartoon, and was ok with the animation style, but their portrayal of Tunnel Rat killed it for me. I enjoyed Renegades. I don't know why they only did one season, but I would have liked more Renegades or Resolute.

If I was in charge, they would do three series. The main one would be similar to the Sunbow, a good for all ages action packed romp. It would be that episodic, doesn't really matter what order you watch it, style of Saturday morning fare. The second would be a grittier, adult oriented show that could be differentiated by using the Night Force branding. This would be built around continuing narratives with a lot more depth. Finally, a goofy comedic take Ã* la Teen Titans Go that could use the Tiger Force brand. This would be 15 minute episodes with a very loose continuity. This way they could get all of the age groups and could build toy lines catering to a wider variety of customers that have their own dedicated media.
Yes, I have already thought about this quite a bit.
