I'm just curious...has anyone ever heard why Cover Girl looked so different in the first Joe Mini-Series cartoon?

Always wondered that myself and would love to hear the "official" answer... but my assumption has always been that at time of the toon production, Hasbro's design for her was still in the works and thought was going to end up blonde, but someone changed it while the toon was already in production. Anyone got the real story?

Happens fairly frequently with movies and movie-toys, too. |

At the time, there were only two female Joes. For some reason, Hasbro made the Covergirl head look just like the Scarlett head. I imagine the cartoon guys just wanted to provide a different look for the only other female Joe, rather than having Scarlett and Scarlett part deux. I always wanted the figure to look like the cartoon mini-series version.

But then why did the cartoon change it back?
I agree that a blonde Covergirl makes more sense. Maybe Hasbro backed off on that because they thought it looked too Barbie-like for a boys' toy though. She also had a green suit in the cartoon though. So maybe when Hasbro decided to get away from the green uniforms they decided the blonde hair didn't go well with her new color clothes. |

Both theories sound good, so it's probably a bit of each of them. Her design wasn't final at the time of production, and they wanted to make the only other female G.I. Joe look a bit more different from Scarlett.

I asked the voice actor Liz Aubrey the same thing... she had no idea, haha.

That's the one thing Rise of Cobra improved on, giving her long blonde hair again.
