I know it's too late for the series to be continued. What do you guys think?
Well, I don't feel like starting a new thread, but what should be cleaned up, to make the next show the best ever? Last edited by CrackerJacks; 03-27-2013 at 09:58 AM.. |

No! I think that ship has sailed. I think Hasbro botched it up and it wouldn't really be in their best interest to try revive it. I think they should focus their attention on creating a new cartoon.

Renegades was completed. The Joes were cleared. They are no longer on the run. The show need a new name. It would be interesting to see a show were the team actually becomes G.I. Joe and officially fights Cobra.

I'd buy it! Renegades is, hands down, my favorite G.I. Joe fiction and it ended as it was really building up steam.

No.
They need to release a cartoon that is closer to what they want the overall brand to be. If it's RoC/Retaliation, then make a cartoon that is similar to that. Renegades wasn't anything remotely recognizable as Joe, just the names. It was further from G.I. Joe then RoC was. I still enjoyed it, but found the cameos to be annoying. If I want to see Shipwreck in the cartoon, I want the soldier, not some captain of a freighter. Having multiple versions of Joe at the same time is a mistake, need to pick one version and build that one up, then can introduce others. And I think that goes for the comics as well. Keep ARAH, but if Retaliation is the direction want to go in, then all media and toys have to be that direction.

Yes and no. I liked the show for what it was, but with the new movie coming out, I think maybe they should have a show that is more inline with the movie, like the way WB did with Batman The Animated Series being so close in tone and look to the Tim burton batman movies.

Well I think they may have already lost the majority of the audience they had...and I also think with the new film they should probably have made something that had a tie in to that film.
BUT looks like thats not going to be the case so with that being the case why not continue Renegades...not as Renegades since the story of them being rogue and framed is done, but as a fresh start in the same universe. I think there are alot of stories still to be told in the Joe Universe. We met a lot of characters in their journey, and I think with the Joes officially formed as a new team we could continue the story. If nothing else...its something to do. Because I'll be honest...I'm not sure what Hasbro's business plan for Joe was or currently is. I mean they took a shot with Rise of Cobra, and made some choices in production and toy tie in that was simply not very popular...and it died at the box office and in toy aisles. Now they tried to rebound by providing us the POC line but retailers were still smarting from the backflow of ROC. Renegades was another attempt to bring in both younger fans and still have some elements of the older show, but I can't understand the plan there...launch a show, and hold back toys until AFTER the show has ended, which causes everyone who wanted Renegades figures of the many takes on characters they did to well....no get those. I would have loved to have had a Rengades Baroness and Major Bludd. Since then the new film looks pretty good, and is getting some decent reviews from people who have seen advanced screening...but the toys are mostly terrible...and overpriced and of course distribution has been spotty as usual. And we have no toon to tie into anything SHOULD Retaliation be a big hit. Now it has been suggested that the film merch is as it is on purpose...retailers are still gun shy from the ROC mess sure, and its also been said that the cuts we have in this line will help make more collector oriented later in the line. But even that seems short sighted...here's our biggest product of the year and some crappy toys, don't worry we'll make it up to you later. Sorta went off on a tangent there...but yeah why not continue that universe. |

I loved it but not as much as Resolute. I think Renegades did a lot of things right and had so much wasted potential due to being capped at 1 season.
If it could continue with the same writing team I think it could turn out good. The more likely scenario is an all new cartoon that can be shown on the HUB but licensed not too long afterwards to another channel. |

While the show had some interesting ideas, some interesting designs, some good stories, and loads of cool nods to a Real American Hero, it's time to let Renegades rest.
Honestly I'm shocked they were nice enough to find a way to wrap things up at the end. Too many cartoons just end with so much unresolved when the series doesn't get picked back up instead of saying hey our fans need an ending. |
