For Christmas I got Season 1.3 on dvd and just got down watching this 2 parter.
I can remember being a kid and absolutely hating this. It was just too weird for me then and I think I hated the sequence when Steeler was spazzing out on Grunt. Anyway. I finished both episodes and while they still aren't my favorite, I thought wow, these are way ahead of their time. I mean the entire premise is pretty "big" for a kid's cartoon. Look at some of the things in this story: An alternate universe where the bad guys have complete control. A double agent. 3 major heroes and characters are dead, and there corpses are shown in a pretty graphic way for the show. The whole idea of Steeler questioning, well....everything. It's just a giant story. Maybe I didn't think that way when I was 10 and maybe that's why I didn't like it but I can't deny it's like nothing the show has done before and deserves alot of credit for everything that went into it. The only issue I had is at the end. When Flint say's something like "now we have to find the portal" and a second later "look there's the portal"...for something so detail oriented that part just seemed a bit rushed but hey...it's an old Joe cartoon. On another note, I give Steeler a pass but when Grunt and Clutch decided to stay too, if I were Flint it wouldve went more like "Ok guys I understand, you can stay and....." BONK!!! Pistol whipped!! "Get your crazy asses back in that portal!" Thoughts? |

I'm giving ya some props for just talking to yourself. Would have been funnier if you quoted yourself.
I think the episode is pretty cool, but then again I'm easily amused.

I am at a point in life where I can barely stand the ARAH cartoon. Don't get me wrong, it's classic, and will always have a place in my heart, but I just can't stand the cheesiness and the Sci-Fi aspect was a little too over-bearing for me, even as a kid.
That being said, I actually like the Worlds Without End 2-parter. One of my favorite quotes comes from that cartoon --- Steller says something like "we've all died and gone to the devil!!!!". Classic.

I loved this episode. I found it funny now as an adult when you watch that episode then watch the cartoon movie you see steeler raising the american flag at the hq when hawk is sending them out to hunt for roadblock's unit.

The episode introduced dreadnoks as cops I am all for that!
The Baroness just didn't seem right, Love Morgan Lofting but her portrayal of a softer more romantic Baroness just did not seem right. and of course the conspiracists today love to tie everything about terrorism and the Govt and illuminati to how Cobra took over. that is classic.
