i don't THINK i wanna see Resolute more than the movie, i KNOW i wanna see Resolute more than the movie...why?...it's so much closer to what i grew up with, at least in the looks department, and honestly, to me, thats the most important thing...
i just watched MASS today, and i have to agree, it was pretty bad...but, i had to remember to suspend my imagination to enjoy it... |

I definitely want to see Resolute more than the movie.
I'm not really scared, or worried, about the movie per se. I don't have high expectations for it and, because of that, I'm sure I'll be entertained. I can't imagine its going to really feel like "classic" GI Joe to me, though. Resolute, looks like it just might. |

if the clip i saw at joe con was representive of the entire series, then you have nothing fear. i already enjoy animation more than live action, so i might be biased here. i am looking foward to the movie, myself. however, after seeing that toon trailer, that has my attention more fo sho. i'll never forget it. this might sound really cheesy, but it was like seeing the moon landing or something. i never thought i would see joe animated without an anime touch, with bullets and dying. it just seemed like a dream. over-dramatic, but it got to me!
the way the clip started set up the whole drama. the older cartoon started as campy as it did in the 80's and then the "film reel" of the old toon burns and new narrative takes over, in a whole new dramatic approach. good stuff! |

Movie all the way for me.
Resolute looked like typical 'adopt cool poses'/'most of episode taken up by fighting as opposed to plot'-type nonesense we've been fed in other shows these last few years. Never mind the fact that it's being written by someone who doesn't actually care for the military... So what if it's 'mature' and people die? "Gritty" doesn't equate to good GI JOE to me - I only have to think of RELOADED to realise that (and they got the look right in that too!) If people are placing the "Look" at the head of their list of what makes proper GI Joe then I think they're missing the point rgarding what GI Joe is about in the first place. I mean, the Sunbow cartoon got the 'look' spot on, but it's hardly a shining example of what GI Joe is capable of. Guess I'm staying unpopular.

i'm hoping for the best for both but the movie has the greater potential for disaster/letdown. it could be as well done as transformers (opnion) or as badly as starship troopers 3 (opinion). i don't care how well either sticks to joe mythology, not one of my concerns. ending up a b or worse movie will do more harm to other gi joe lines than a bad internet toon.

unfortunately for most people with a bias against Ripcord/Wayans, the character is the best character in the script and Wayans is perfect for it. so if you refuse to enjoy the character because he's black or Wayans is playing him, regardless of how well it is executed, you probably will hate everything else in the movie by default since he is the best aspect of it.

My only wish is that it wasn't going to be so short (5min episodes) I am totally blown away by the clip (bootleg quality, big lip roadblock and all)
Crimson Rage, come on buddy, how narrow is your template for determining what is good? "Open your mind Quaid" they are throwing us some major bones and your holding out for the steak! |

I dont get this....youve told all us movie haters that you cant hate something you havent seen yet............and then you see this Bad Ass Footage for the Cartoon.....and the pics of Characters.....and say it isnt GI Joe............Huh? Everything thats been said about the movie Stinks....except Snake Eyes...........Everything about the new Cartoon Rocks...... How can you look at the new cartoon footage and even not like that? That s GI Joe From the way Duke looks and Snake Eyes looks......to the Cobra Troopers getting owned in the woods.... At least seeing the Cobra Troopers you knew that was GI Joe Take away the movie logo on those Posters except for Snake and The Baroness and you wouldnt know what that movie was called......... This Cartoon will be hands down BETTER than the movie........ |
