Although there were some early previews of Sideshow beginning to expand its GI Joe line into 1:4 Premium Format scale (Baroness), the most recent sneak peek of a non 12" figure was a Snake-Eyes statue (probably 1:6, like the popular new LotR maquettes).
I doubt GI Joe could sustain both lines, especially as all the dioramas and environments they have done remain in-stock at Sideshow and BBTS (even after Xmas clearances). Which would you prefer? Last edited by TripleCP; 03-02-2011 at 03:51 AM.. |

Premium format, except for the size, are just fucking cool. I have the Creature from the Black Lagoon one and I love it.
Where was the preview of the Baroness PF? |

The Premium Format stuff is mindblowing. However, I've limited myself to just 1:6th scale, and they are expensive enough. Great stuff, though.

I would rather neither.
Concentrate on the 12" figures and the (very) occasional environment. The occasional dio or statue is okay, too, but I don't see the need for "premium format" personally. I guess since it's just one of Sideshow's "things", one or two would be okay, but I can't imagine anyone having the space or inclination to have a large number of these on display. 1/6th statues... what's the point? I assume they're filling a niche with LOTR, but why would GI Joe collectors buy 1/6th statues when they've got such great 1/6th figures to collect?

Baroness Premium Format - Sideshow Freaks Just some CGI concept art, I believe, though it might be the basis for a statue, too. Some characters will just be hard to do right using the body they have. Many people didn't like the white undershirt on Storm Shadow, but this was the alternative: Sideshow Freaks - View Single Post - Official Sideshow Storm Shadow Photo thread Also, I think they said they're still working on their 12" female body. Some fans are clamoring for female chars, though. Between the choices of rushing a substandard Baroness action figure to market or producing a PF/statue as detailed as the concept art, I'd say the latter would be the better choice. I'd also expect them to use one of these formats for v1 accurate chars like Gung Ho, Roadblock, Mindbender, and Dreadnoks, while the corresponding 12" figures will be updated with clothes that conceal their elbow joints. I will get anything they release, but I have plenty of smaller Joe statues, I need some big'uns!
