The Three Zero ones are nice.
They never made a Sideshow Roadblock so I've seen people buy the Three Zero one. Kinda hoping we get a Three Zero Lady Jaye but bet you we're getting a Baroness first.

Great question. I tapped after all the ninja variants, bailing just before Storm Shadow v2 was released (actually canceled his preorder) as it was apparent SSC was abandoning the license. I've been avoiding the ThreeZero stuff because of the "rubber" nature of most of their figures, but am also genuinely curious how they display with SSC's releases.
Threezero fit and finish is far superior to sideshow. That said, sideshow had some bangers. Zartan, Snake Eyes Retaliation, Falcon, Bludd, And Strom Shadow v2 are all top tier.

Yeah, I modified my own Zartan (repainted the armor, got a custom hood that is a better color and hangs much better with a wire in the seams), but even as a stock figure it is very solid. Good joints, good sculpt, good paintwork, good accessories. Off the top of my head I also thought Flint, Rock N Roll, Firefly, Crimson Guard, and Dusty were reasonably well done, though as Nam points out the design decisions were odd at times, the paintwork on the sculpts usually wasn't the best, and there was some cheapness with basic stuff like the belt material and patches that cut across lots of figures. Earlier figures had horrible joint issues. Snake Eyes V1 and Storm Shadow in particular.
In general you could make those figures work on a display but it usually took some TLC. I heavily modified my Flint with a Hot Toys TTM-19 muscle body, new hands and boots, Rock N Roll's felt beret, and repainted harness. But at that point it's really nice on the display. |

I think by the time we were done "fixing" what little Joes Sideshow released, there really wasn't much stock SSC left. Especially on the early ones with that horrible Gen 1 Prometheus buck.

Agreed. I only have modest modding skills, otherwise I might still have more of them. I've always been envious of guys like Mando, Skiman, and Evilface who can seemingly produce whatever they want.

I have an extensive collection of Sideshow figures, as well as customs. When I was not happy with a release, I customized my own. I customized a Dusty, and I have a Roadblock that I am also happy with.
That being said, I have only pulled the trigger on a Three Zero Firefly. I was going to modifiy the gear but I am happy with it for now. |

I didn't chase Three Zero Roadblock because it was undersized and I was happy with my custom.
