Hello, new user on here. I'm usually on the TFW boards.
So, I collected the Sideshow 12" Joes before they ended the line. I noticed that ThreeZero started their own 1/6 RAH line. I wanted to get the ThreeZero Snakeeyes as I never got the Sideshow one. Do both of the lines fit in together? Anyone have both of the lines in their collection? |

Great question. I tapped after all the ninja variants, bailing just before Storm Shadow v2 was released (actually canceled his preorder) as it was apparent SSC was abandoning the license. I've been avoiding the ThreeZero stuff because of the "rubber" nature of most of their figures, but am also genuinely curious how they display with SSC's releases.

I don't have any Threezero figures for reference, unfortunately.

Felt like it was the wrong time to try the line because the movies did poorly and 12" Joes have never been hot sellers after the 60s.
Wasn't too shocked they never got to Scarlett because they never got to Padme outside of the Illum outfit or Ahsoka at all. I imagine the women didn't sell well. |

I had many SSC Joes (still do have several, in storage), but never picked up the ThreeZero figures primarily because of the stylistic choices. I was about to pull the trigger on Snake Eyes when BBTS were selling them for around $100, but realized I was never going to enjoy looking at that thing on display. The proportions can be wacky, the decision on mixing cloth with rubber outfits is weird, and as with many SSC releases, I don't like many of the creative deviations from source toys/comics/cartoons. I've had several other 1/6 scale ThreeZero figures, and they are fine for what they are. Though they aren't approaching Hot Toys quality I think they will be roughly on par with what you would get from SSC (probably fewer loose joints).
I think the best of the bunch is Firefly, and even there, something is off. The head, the body, the way the suit fits on the body, just doesn't work for me personally on balance. But I suspect that figure in particular would pair pretty well with the other Joes, probably better than SSC's attempt given all the liberties they took. |

That's quite the collection! I have all the releases except for v2 Storm Shadow, and even picked up a few extras to kitbash 0-13 members (binned in the garage ATM). Still think it was a HUGE mistake on their part not to utilize the Rock & Roll buck to flesh out the other O-13 (they also never got to Scarlett). But it was clear that being hippy pirates, they had little love for a brand they considered "military." Ironic, too, considering they made their name on Universal Monsters and 12" military figures.
I thought Sideshow did pretty well with sculpts, especially since they weren't based on real-life actors. I remember the James Bond and Star Wars lines were atrocious. Looked like counterfeit merchandise. The Snakeeyes Threezero keeps going on sale, especially on BBTS right now. I was wondering should I just get it and see how it is in hand and next to the SSC Joes. |

You had all of them?! Storm Shadow V2 was actually my final one I got.

I was wondering should I just get it and see how it is in hand and next to the SSC Joes. I know a few of the figures were actually based on actors. Dusty was Eric Bana and I believe Hawk was Robert Redford. Beachhead looks like that old photo of the sailor making a Popeye face. I know I used the Obama head to make a Doc, but that was a kitbash. I keep trying to coax Skiman (a custom artist) into finishing his updated Slaughter head to replace his original. Bond and early Star Wars were good for their time. Unfortunately, with HT and the growth of 3rd party bootleggers, the figures absolutely look dated, much like their T2 and Evil Dead figures. But again, for their time they were fairly good. I always find it surprising how well the Universal Monsters and Modern Horror figures still hold up today.

I have the Sideshow Cobra Commander. It's okay. I ordered the 3 zero CC and Destro. The Destro looks awesome. Sideshow and 3 Zero are bith 6th scale so they should be fine together. I have old Sideshow figures and they still ook good next newer ones. The big difference is newer figurs are more streamlined and less bulky. GI Joe aren't real people so the laser scans don't really matter,
