Hello all. New to the discussion. I have a couple vintage Joes I?m in the process of restoring. Both are divers. I?ve watched the restoration vids on YouTube specifically from toy polloi. My question is this. Both my suits are pretty trashed. Finding a replacement is not looking good. Also, is there any recommendations for replacing the black air hoses. What are other people out there using? Any advice on sourcing parts is appreciated. I already sourced the replacement elastic for the body?s of the figures. Thanks.

So I refreshed an old deep sea diver suit that had a decayed rubber lining. I soaked it in a solution of oxy clean to whiten it. I turned it inside out and scraped most of the decayed rubber lining off. I then spread a thin layer of white silicone over the whole inside, like icing a cake. After is cured, it was pliable. When I turned it right side out, it looked pretty good. Great for display. Not good for collector value.
The hoses are black pliable plastic, not rubber. Maybe aquarium parts? Should be able to find some on eBay. I don't think they are too hard to find. |
