Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread. First post in this forum actually. Well, I've decideded to start collecting Sideshow's GI Joe figures because Hasbro hasn't come out with anything I've been interested in for a while now. My questions to my fellow Hisstank members are:
1. What are some of the best Cobra figures? 2. Have you tried Sideshow's payment plans, and how did that plan go. 3. Does anyone have a Cobra Viper, and or Cobra Trooper for sale? 4. What is a fair price for a Storm Shadow, and do you think Sideshow will do another Storm Shadow in his first costume again? 2. I have only bought one directly from SS, and that's the Baroness. I paid one lump sum, the only problem I have is that they use FedEx, and since Im in Canada, I get raped by Customs taxes, and brokerage fees. 3. Good luck finding these, their prices keep going up and up! 4. There are 3 iterations of Stormshadow including the Hot Toys one. They are all pretty great looking, the upcoming hooded version actually looks amazing, you should consider getting that one.

Yeah, he's going for some major coin. Makes me wish I'd shelled out $129 for him back when. I was sticking to my 4" addiction and trying to steer clear of the 12" line. I've recently got a promotion of sorts at work, and wanted to celebrate by buying something nice for myself. Last time I hit a milestone, I bought a Les Paul guitar, but I don't play as much anymore, so I thought I'd go the joe route this time. I'm trying to decide between buying an AFA carded 84 FF or the sideshow FF.

What is a fair price for a Storm Shadow, and do you think Sideshow will do another Storm Shadow in his first costume again? I started collecting when I got Firefly a few years ago and have picked up everyone after since. Here are my tips/responses: 1. Hands down Firefly, although purist say he is not enough of an homage to the ARAH version. Major Bludd, Zartan, Viper and Crimson Guard are also great. The new Cobra Commander Dictator looks also to be a good pickup and you can't get more iconic than that. And have you seen the Baroness figures....perfection. You really can't go wrong with any of the Cobras. 2. I use Sideshow's Flexpay plans almost every time. If you are pre-ordering an item, they will begin taking out monthly payments prior to the items release. I structure my payments on my pay date and it lessens the financial impact, especially if you stretch your payments across 3 or 4 monthly payments. So a $175 figure doesn't hurt so much on the wallet! It also helps when you have multiple figures pre-ordered - I currently have Cobra Commander, Baroness and Roadblock on Flexpay plans. If you can wait a few days or weeks after you start seeing pics of them online from reviewers or your fellow Tankers, it worth it. 3. Shop around for the blue shirt Cobra Troopers. You can probably find one for decent price under $150. The Viper might be a bit more elusive. 4. The original Storm Shadow is pricey and you can just about forget getting the EX version. Have you checked out the Storm Shadow Assassin coming out later this year? I wouldn't put it past Sideshow to re-release a better version of Storm Shadow that is more ARAH accurate with the cut-off sleeves. As you begin accumulating all these 1/6th figures, you are going to need a display system for them. I currently am using bookshelves with lighting for mine. Others use the IKEA Detolf glass shelf with LED lighting. These look really nice for displaying your figures and investment!

Thank you again for everyone posting responses. I do currently have a Billy Moreno Bookshelf with glass doors I'm planning on displaying them in. I think I'm going to go with the flex pay plan on the new figures coming out. I can't wait though, so I'm ordering Cobra Commander right after this message. And then the decision on who's next. I love that Crimson Guard, hmmmm decisions, decisions. And of course who should be flexed paid first Destro or Baroness????

Firefly, hands down, is the best Cobra figure. I think Zartan is a close second. I'm not even that big of a Firefly fan (think Zartan is a cooler character) its just that figure looks badass.
I haven't used Flexpay, but I've never had any issues at all from a customer service standpoint. They've always come across as a standup company and their preorders always work well even when changing shipping addresses or credit cards after the fact. I picked up my Firefly off ebay. He had been displayed, but had all original paperwork. Only missing the goggles which I thought looked dumb anyway. I think I paid $175 or so. If you are patient and keep an eye out for opened ones you can find a fair deal. |

I have another question regarding the Flex pay option. Is it only on certain figures up for precorder? There are some I'm looking at under the sideshow website, but don't see that option.

Love the payment plans makes it that much easier each month instead of having to drop a huge payment every figure release. Plus I try to get a few payments on figures per month so that they release on the same date or within a week or two. 3. Own a viper but not selling one sorry 4. I have the new one on order and can't wait for that version as it was one of my favorites when I was younger plus it'll probably be a while before they release a ninja version again. I say just order the new version you won't be disappointed.

This is a great time to start collecting Sideshow figures especially Cobra. I suggest you get Baroness, Major Bludd, The New Cobra Commander, & Pre Order Destro. That will be 4 great figures and look fantastic displayed together.
