I got some 1/6 scale shemaghs from Ebay and replaced the cloth face wraps with them on the Cobra Desert Officer and Sniper:
I found a shemagh that had some red in the pattern that I thought would be good for the Officer. I tried a black on gray shemagh on the Sniper, but it looked a bit too bold. I figured the brown on tan one would make him blend in better. |

Looks great. I was thinking of getting a couple Cobra blue ones for my desert guys, since imo all Cobra troops ought to sport the organization's signature color on at least one part of their uniform.

Looks DYNO-MITE...Discomite!!!
I would have never thought of adding this accessory. It definitely gives them a more Middle Eastern look and separates them from the regular blue shirts. Good job!!!

I always thought that Cobra forces were different nationalities, not just caucasians from Springfield. Cobra could literally recruit from all over the globe to contribute their mission of global terrorism.
If only the desert troops looked more "middle eastern" and were a bit more tanned. The desert sniper does look a bit Asian, though.

Well, shemaghs are worn by US troops and probably by other coalition troops in the Middle East/southwest Asia, so their presence doesn't necessarily mean the wearers are indigenous personnel. But I do agree that indigenous peoples of various parts of the world are recruited into Cobra ranks for their specific theaters of operation.
Thanks for the comments all. I wish I could take credit for the idea, but it wasn't mine. I got it from the Sideshow Freaks discussion forum. But this is the first time I've seen any Joe/Cobra troops wearing them Next, I'm going to fit one on Dusty. |

The new shemaghs look 100% better than the red.

This was a great idea, I must have missed it on the Freaks forum, though admittedly, I passed on the Cobra desert figures (with the intention to pick them up later, probably). I love how they look - can't wait to see how Dusty turns out - I might have to get a few of these myself!
