This figure is based on the upcoming movie, right? If so, why does he have "old" looking eyes as opposed to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's (Cobra Commander's) "young" eyes?

There's a pretty thorough video about the design process for the Joe line at Sideshow's site. |

Depends on how much they are trying to rip us off for this go around. Sideshow used to be one of my favorite companies but they must have new management-they've become ridiculously "over-enthused" with their pricing. Don't feel like I'm getting what I'm paying for with their new price perspective.
Secondly, haven't you noticed the general surge in pricing on action figures industrywide in the last couple of years? $7.99 for modern RAH figures or Star Wars figures is now the norm, so the general price increase for Sideshow products is roughly in line with this. Did we really think our plastic pretty plaything were not going to shoot through the roof prce-wise when we started running out of oil? We're getting hit twice, once for manufacture, once for shipping. (Worth noting: while I may be coming off as a blanket apologist for Sideshow, this is far from the case. I've been very vocal about getting Sideshow to improve the quality of their basic body and paintwork for several years now, and figures like Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander and Indiana Jones and Obi-Wan Kenobi in Clone Armor are the fruit of this. Better product is going to net you a larger price tag.) Sorry if this is overly pedantic, as you may know all of this already, but I figured the exposition was worth it since many RAH collectors are brand new to the world of high end toys, even if you're not. |

I'd say that the helmet would make a nice Exclusive item, but that would barr Sideshow from milking us for a second Cobra Commander.
And as far as price being the cause of inflation and better parts, I point you to Sideshow's latest SW figure, Jedi Master Ki-Adi Mundi. The figure has no extras, is using the same old body as the rest of the SW line, there is nothing special about his robes, yet he costs TWICE as much as I paid for Jedi Luke, Anakin, or Obi-wan at the start of this collection. That's a huge jump in price with no advance in design. I didn't realize inflation was that bad.
