It's still a popular Warhammer spot. The first time I took my wife in there all the gamers eye-fucked the hell out of her. It was rather funny because was like I am NEVER going in there again!
That's something I always wondered, too. I know it's a popular Warhammer 40k spot, but other than that... ah well. I liked shopping there too much to complain. Bought more than enough aircraft, Gundam and assorted supplies there over the years- heck, I'll be in the area next week, I'll probably drop by the place just for old times' sake.
Ah, explains it then. Sorry, spent my whole life around aircraft and crew in some form or another. Never really met too many grounders, as unlikely as it sounds.
Hmm. The hobby store you mentioned in your ghillie suit thread, were you referring to the Hobby Chest?
The Choctaw was the fat helo with the engine in the nose. I think it was in the middle when I left the area in... June of 09, I think? My dad worked on the whirly birds for L3 out of New River, got transferred over to the Army Depot out in Lexington KY.
I have been here since 2000 and have witnessed A LOT of changes since. I am not familiar with the Choctaw, so I guess it ain't there anymore. Jacksonville has grown a lot, two Wal-Marts and every food chain you can think of. Tobie's is still here... and probably one of the nastiest strip clubs I have ever set eyes on. I think all the former La Mirage and Driftwood dancers that are in their late 40's work there since they can't keep up with the younger gals lol.
Luhjern, huh? Spent 12 years growing up in and with Jacksonville and Richlands- I remember when Jax was just Toby's and a Food Lion one side, and a Walmart and the Jacksonville Mall on the other. The Choctaw still sitting outside the New River front gate?
