A GREAT issue, one of the best reads (in my opinion) of any issue in the entire series. At least, as far as one-shots go. Wet Suit in the upcoming 'Joe Con' Exclusive set is based on his likeness depicted in this issue.

Marvel Comics GI Joe #24!
I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was in Warehouse Market on Oddie Blvd. in Sparks, Nevada. I was checking out the comic rack and I saw GI Joe #24. I was drawn in by Storm Shadow because I was fascinated by ninjas back then (I still am, to be honest). For those who don't know, the 80's was when ninjas first became big in America. Anyways, I thumbed through it, not really reading it, just looking for the ninja. I decided to buy the comic, and the rest they say is history. Alot of my favorite characters are seen in issue #24, including Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, Destro, The Baroness, Major Bludd, Firefly, Zartan, & Gung Ho. Three of my favorite vehicles are also seen in issue #24: GI Joe's Sky Hawk, the Cobra CLAW, & the Cobra FANG. I collected Marvel's GI Joe run until issue #104 at which time I gave up on the series. Although I love the toys and the show, it was the comic that made me a fan of GI Joe. Now I gotta go read issue #24! |

My first was one of the Comic Magazines. Still have it too, was the one with reprints of issues 32/33/34. Found it at a Hills Department store. Issue #34 quickly became my all time favorite GIJoe comic.
I use to look everytime I was at Hills for another one but never did see anymore and there just wasn't anywhere to find the comics arounds here. Kinda funny I guess that was around 88 and I had been playing with Joes for all those years and I never knew there was a comic til then. Later around about 90 when I was in middle school one of my friends had a subscription to the comic and he'd let me barrow his old comics. Hated and both loved the summer break. Cause I'd miss out on what was happening but as soon as school started the first day he'd bring all the issues I missed. Now that was a true friend. |
