Before anyone asks yes...this is the level of OCD I have at times.
So I recently pulled all my Thunderbolts books, and grabbed any issues I DIDN'T have and to the best of my ability placed them in order of how they should read. So enjoy. Thunderbolts #-1 The Incredible Hulk #449 Tales of the Marvel Universe #1 Thunderbolts #1-2 Spiderman Team-Up #7 Based on three items… · The Thunderbolts are shown in Four Freedom Plaza which is given to them at the end of Thunderbolts #2 · Jolt is not yet on the team she joins in Thunderbolts #4 · Thunderbolts #2 ends with no to be continued like story clearly it’s a good break point to insert Spiderman Team-Up #7 Thunderbolts #3-4 Thunderbolts Annual ‘97 · This one is easy, Jolt joins the team at the end of Thunderbolts #4 the Annual Citizen V (Zemo) gives a slanted story of how he gathered the Thunderbolts to Jolt as she’s new to the team and has questions. Thunderbolts #5-21 1998 Annual Captain America & Citizen V · The new Citizen V is show stalking Zemo and confronting him in previous issues of Thunderbolts. There’s no real other time frame as to where this takes place but it fits fine here. Thunderbolts #22 Thunderbolts #0 · Hawkeye had demanded Mach 1 turn himself in which he does in Thunderbolts #23, this is the Thunderbolts last night before Mach 1 Turns himself in. Thunderbolts #23-37 Thunderbolts Annual 2000 · The story in Thunderbolts #37 reaches an natural break and issue #38 Hawkeye directly recalls the events of this Annual. Thunderbolts #38-42 Avengers #32 Thunderbolts #43 Avengers #33 Thunderbolts #44 Avengers #34 · This Avengers / Thunderbolts crossover is a bit dicey you probably need to read a few more issues prior to Avengers #32 to fully understand the full story of what’s going on with Count Nefaria. It’s not 100% necessary but it does help. Also the issues overlap a bit meaning some thing already covered in say the end of Thunderbolts is repeated or told slightly different in Avengers and vise versa. Thunderbolts # 45 · Ties into Marvel’s Maximum Security crossover but is kind of messy blending of both the Maximum Security story and the Thunderbolts story. Thunderbolts #46-50 Citizen V #1-3 · Citizen V had returned this time it’s really John Watkins III (but ironically its Zemo’s mind in Watkins body) and he was seen in the issues before and including Thunderbolts #50. It’s also a follow up on the story involving Norman Osborn being controlled. Thunderbolts #51-58 Citizen V: The Everlasting #1-4 · Zemo had been inadvertently exorcised from Watkins body in Thunderbolts #58, also Everlastings 1st issue is published the same month as Thunderbolts #59 in which Songbird has a solo adventure. Thunderbolts #59-75. · Issue 75 effectively ends the first volume of Thunderbolts. Avengers / Thunderbolts #1-6 · While not numbered as such Avengers / Thunderbolts #1-6 is essentially considered Thunderbolts #76-81. Thunderbolts #1/82-3/85 · Marvel decided at this point to institute as dual numbering system, so it could launch a new #1 but still keep some lineage from previous volumes. This continues all the way through to issue #18/99. Thunderbolts #4/86 · Enemy of the State Tie In, I didn’t read Enemy of the State but it sure makes Thunderbolts #4/86 confusing enough. Thunderbolts #5/86-10/91 Thunderbolts #11/92 · House of M tie-in and NOTHING makes sense because of it, it’s an alt universe story and really has no effect on the ongoing story but to derail it for a month. In fact Thunderbolts #12/93 picks up a few weeks after and its gives a messy clean up of 11/92. Thunderbolts #12/93-102 · Thunderbolts #100 effectively ends the dual numbering system. Thunderbolts #103-105 · Civil War tie-in. Thunderbolts #106-109 · Thunderbolts #109 is a bridge to the new creative team’s version of Thunderbolts in which Norman Osborn takes over the program. Thunderbolts Presents: Zemo Born Better #1-4 · Zemo disappeared at the end of Thunderbolts #108, in reality he was skipping through time in this series. Thunderbolts #110-111 Thunderbolts: Desperate Measures · I took some liberties as to exactly where this and all the Thunderbolts one shot takes place. My basis for this issue take place here is that Bulls Eye is injured and incapacitated in Thunderbolts #115, here he is not, also Moonstone makes complaints about Bulls Eye being allowed to lead this mission when she is mission team leader, a position taken away after she is injured and preformed poorly in Thunderbolts #115.While in the main Thunderbolts book its not exactly the best fit, but it will work between Thunderbolts #111 and #112. Thunderbolts: Breaking Point · Again much like Desperate Measures it’s a hard fit but Moonstone is the team leader in this so it does fit in here. Thunderbolts: International Incident · Same problems apply here, but with one additional wrinkle. Radioactive Man discovers the truth about Swordsman’s sister being cloned being held over Swordsman’s head…later in an issue of Thunderbolts he states that he did not know that. Granted he lied to cover up what Swordsman was doing in letting Zola escape so his later statement of saying he did not know may have been to continue in this cover up. Thunderbolts #112-121 Penance: Relentless #1-5 · It’s a good break point in the Thunderbolts story and seems to fit, but there is no real place where Relentless is specifically said to fit. However the Secret Invasion tie-in and its aftermath start in Thunderbolts #122-127, so it’s as good a place as any. Thunderbolts #122-127 Thunderbolts #128-129 Deadpool #8 Thunderbolts #130 Deadpool #9 Thunderbolts #131 · Magnus Opus crossover. Thunderbolts #132 -137 · Black Widow II is revealed to be secretly working for Nick Fury, and is actually Black Widow I who helps Songbird escape Osborn’s team. Osborn apparently is gonna bring the real Black Widow II onto the team but that story is never revisited here. And Songbird joins Fury’s underground, but this is also never picked up here, maybe elsewhere. Thunderbolts #138-143 · Part of the Siege storyline, Thunderbolts really suffers as Norman Osborn is barely there, it almost feels like an after thought which is a shame because it’s a pretty interesting team. Thunderbolts #144-Current · New Team lead by Luke Cage, a few new faces and old, and Songbird returns with the worst haircut ever. |

I never noticed that "Avengers/Thunderbolts" was rolled-in to the overall issue numbering.
There's a 1997 'Bolts crossover with the short-lived "Heroes for Hire" (issue 7 of that title). I can't remember if Jolt's in that story, though. It definitely falls somewhere in the first 10 issues of Thunderbolts. Oh..and if you wanna' be REAL picky, "#-1" ("Negative 1") would come before all of these. Although it's told in flashback, so I think the framing sequence with Zemo takes place somewhere in the modern timeline.

Although most would consider avengers thunderbolts #1-6 and the 76-81 there is an actual number 76-81
Its mostly known as the fightbolts and follows the battler and a few other b-league villains as they compete in an underground fighting league in new jersey Fit perfectly after avengers thunderbolts cuz it's the three month break abe Jenkins talks about in new avengers #1 Last edited by EntiTy; 12-05-2011 at 08:31 PM..
