What have they messed up with the Joeverse?
There are no continuity issues (Hearts and Minds not counting, because that can stand alone if want it to, and there are no direct contradictions). They're putting more backstory, more depth and more attention to the Cobra organization then anyone else ever has. And Cobra have always had depth - That's why I love GI JOE so much, because Cobra isn't the usual tinpot cartoon-level villains - The Marvel era gave Cobra as much depth, scope and character as IDW is trying to do, and did so far more artfully. IDW may be adding 'depth' to Cobra, yet the result is me caring less and less about them because that 'depth' is plodding, mundane and cliched (in my opinion!).

I'm willing to give this series a look; it's only two issues, so it is at best an experiment. There are always opportunities to tell interesting and compelling stories outside the confines of a comfortable, established universe. Hopefully this does well enough for IDW that they're willing to continue seeking out opportunities to present the G.I. Joe universe in unconventional ways. |

I don't mind short term projects like this, but I wish they'd focus a little more on getting say the Classic and Special Missions TPBs out faster.

You know what I want? I hardbound box set of the Classic Continuity. I'd pay a lot for one of those. ...I may need to look into getting my classic copies bound...

What ever happened to G.I.Joe? Do they not care about us anymore?

I DONT WANT ANY OF THIS SCI FI STUFF I ONLY WANT "TEARS OF THE SUN" TO BE DRAWN OUT - FRAME BY FRAME - AND PRINTED IN A TPB. >: (
...This is why I tend to like the Transformers fandom a bit more than GI Joe. Whereas they embrace the crappy elements of their universe, we like to pretend they didn't happen (VvV, Sigma Six, ROC) But then again, Transformers fans will ocassionally write elaborate gay fan-fictions about the characters in their universe, so I tend to identify more with the Joe side. XD This might be the first Joe comic I buy in nearly six years. Tom

Please stop talking. The amount of insider information that you have is exactly zero.
Know how I know this? Because you posted a declassified flyer which was meant for fun as a NEWS ITEM. No one would ever tell you anything because the VERY FIRST THING you would do is post it here. Probably incorrectly. |
