I finally got around to getting Classic G.I. Joe Volume 6.
I was all stoked as I flipped through it. Before I even finished the first chapter I decided to see if I could find Volume 7 on eBay, or Amazon, and buy it so it would be on its way. I figured I could have it here by next week if I was lucky. Couldn't find it on eBay. Looked on Amazon. Not only is it going for way too much (52 bucks used) It's rife with errors. The few reviews on it all state pretty much the same thing; Typos galore. Glitch with the scanning software, whatever, yada yada... Unreadable... One review by Kid Kyoto states: "Let's start with the typos, because the book is littered with them. They start on page 1 and continue through the book. Artist Marshall Rogers becomes Marshall ROSERS. A few pages later we read that "The structure was built during the ultra-paranoid GOLD war fifties. Very solid. Bunker LAKE." I could get 8 and 9 right now, but... My enthusiasm is already wavering. I can't find 7 for a decent price- And I don't want to shell out 50 bucks for a botched 1st printing. What I'm wondering is, has anyone heard if this is going to be re-reprinted? Released with the errors corrected? I found a few typos in volume 6 and I noticed a lot of the art and text look a little "rougher" than the other previous volumes. I didn't really think much of it, though. It is the first new reprint volume, and after looking through it again I can't even find the word balloons with the mangled words in it. Are the rest of these still worth getting? Anybody have 8 or 9? |

Man, I don't even know. I have it, but haven't had a chance to even crack it open yet! Now I'm worried

If you come across any and they really really stand out let me know I'm hoping maybe it's not as noticeable as some of these guys made it out to be. Myabe they're just way more ocd than me.
I found some in Volume 6- Not a HUGE deal... Bottom of page 219. "s" and "n" randomly shoved in some of the words. It's annoying though. I want the entire run of these, still, damn it. I was able to get past the pointless J. Scott Campbell covers, finally. It would have been great if they used actual Marvel covers, but no big deal I guess. They're sitting on a bookshelf. All I see is the spine. I'll live. I was even able to get past them leaving out some of the extras (Colonel Shariff in issue one for starters) and the profiles, AND not including the Yearbook stories, most of which were just freakin' awesome. At least we're getting Special Missions. Maybe they'll include those there too. That would be awesome. I just hope the errors don't get worse as the series wraps up. |

Just found out a little more from the Amazon.com reviews for Volume 7 and Volume 8.
They've gotten a LOT better quality wise from what I've read so far. So Yay. I can spend more money recapturing my youth. |
