Does any one have the entire collection scanned and saved on their computer? If not, would anyone be interested in it? If so, maybe we can work out a trade or something. I only ask because I have the entire set scanned, excellent quality, and wondered if anyone else did?

It's legal as long as it's for non-commercial uses. You can't sell to make a profit on it.

it's an offer to trade it...i think it'd be like me offering to trade for the G.I. Joe arcade Rom, or some bootleg DIC episodes.

There's some part of the copyright law that says as long as you make the copies for your own personal use with no intent to sell or distribute (the trading of said scans could be consider distributing) then you're okay.
It's like taking a CD you own and converting it to MP3 to play on your iPod.

It's like taking a CD you own and converting it to MP3 to play on your iPod. You can make copies for yourself of anything. The moment you hand it out, then you are breaking the law. It's even worse for a film It's technically against the law for a teacher to show a taped special to his class. |

It's like taking a CD you own and converting it to MP3 to play on your iPod. The counter argument that most use is that a set like GI Joe is not on the newsstands and issues like Special Missions may not currently be available so where is the harm? The answer to that is that the copyright holder is theoretically damaged in loss of future sales as they have the rights to eventually publish or not publish (make available) the material as they see fit. With that said, I would still like a copy as I sold my set off years ago. |
