If HASBRO is dissing on the Devil's Due Run..Then why are all of the IDW Classic G.I. Joe Marvel reprints , Issues 6 and up using Devil's Due art..instead of Marvel/Hama Art? I would prefer Marvel my self. My biggest problem..Is they are using artwork that has absolutely nothing to do with the issues in the trade..ie Classic G.I. Joe Volume 7 is from the Devils due 21. Nothing at all to do with issues 51-60..
Any ideas on why they are doing this..or does anyone no for sure why? BTW..Does anyone know who is drawing these covers? I can see it looks like the same Artist from Issues 1 to the current one at 8..but at least they were original covers up to issue 5 that actually applied to the issues in the book.. |

This was discussed awhile ago.
The art was commissioned during DDP's liscense. Done by J. Scott Campell, a well known and name artist. IDW got it all when they acquired the liscense, they got the artwork. If you have artwork from an artist like Campbell, you use it.

I see that..but its still a cop out to use a piece of artwork that has nothing to do with the books that you are using it for..

I wouldn't call it a cop out, because the only thing they are "copping out" of is paying another artist to make a new piece.
It doesn't make much sense. But they've run out of Campbell pieces anyways. I'm pretty sure the cover to the October release of Special Missions is new art.

Right. Like I said, it doesn't make sense.

Besides, the covers work really well. I'm actually a little surprised they weren't specifically commissioned for those trades. All this seems like is another excuse for fans to complain. |
