Okay I may be in the minority here (I didn't read the whole thread) but I have to say having met and worked closely with McFarlane, I was the curator for the McFarlane retrospective at MoCCA a few years back, he is a top notch guy. He is also a very very talented artist.
That said while I like his Joe work I agree that id didn't "fit" the feel that the first 59 issues had. I will also say that growing up I loved the Joe comics, I still have the full run, but must admit, the artwork was bland and boring and never really had the action or impact visually that the stories did in my mind. Don't get me wrong I loved them but they were a lil' bland artistically. As far as Liefeld is concerned (since he was mentioned a few times) he is an atrocious "artist" who did more to hurt comics than anyone else. That is my opinion so feel free to disagree. |
